We have always been fans of the this company's food and service so we decided to try their new location in the former Twin City Chop House. Wow! The new Phoenix Grille Downtown is completely off the charts! This has to be the most classy, yet comfortable restaurants in the region.
These guys have really brought this place to life. From the live plants, upbeat background music, fresh flowers on the table, to the expanded wine list, everything just seems to fit together. The menu has something for everyone and is at a much better price point than the Chop House. As always, the food and service were spot on, right down to the desserts. We shared the House Made Strawberry Short Cake and Chocolate Chip Bread Pudding to finish off a wonderful evening with close friends.

We decided to try this restaurant based on reviews but found the experience to be only average at best. While the service was good the food was only average. Our meal started with the calamari as an appetizer which was the best part of the meal. We both ordered the filet, one cooked medium and the other well done. Our salads were brought out first and they were fine. next came the steaks which were both cooked as ordered but just did nit seem to be top quality meat. Once again the service was good and we generously tipped our waiter, but we were just not wowed by the meal itself.

Friends had recommended we try Phoenix Grille as it is owned by the company that started Deacon Tower Grille. We are so glad we did. We made reservations for Saturday night through their website and arrived just prior to 7 pm. We had a quick cocktail at their cozy lobby bar and found the bartender to be friendly and the Martinis to be spot on. We were offered a nice booth on the upper level of the dining room which we found to be quiet, warm and inviting.
Our server, Angie, informed us of the features and made her suggestions. We decided to share the Calamari as an appetizer, my husband ordered the Angus Filet and I had the Grilled Salmon.
Our appetizer arrived in about ten minutes which was just enough for Angie to open and serve a bottle of wine. The Calamari was light and crisp and as good as either one of us had ever tried anywhere. Salads were the next course and arrived just as we finished the last of our appetizer.
We ordered one Caesar and one House and both were very good. We especially enjoyed the smoked Gouda and Corn Salsa which came on the House salad. The entrees were timed perfectly and were delivered just a couple minutes after we finished our salads. Both were cooked perfectly and the presentation was a work of art. The Salmon came with sautéed fresh spinach and and the Filet with grilled lemon asparagus. We finished a wonderful evening by sharing a warm chocolate chip raspberry bread pudding topped with vanilla ice cream. Wow! The Phoenix Grille is our new favorite date night restaurant. We will return very soon!

We had the rib eye and meat was very tough, fatty and they served it with a hinze 57 sauce without asking, so they must have known it needed some flavor. Might try again but only because it is not crowded.
