Caveat: I LOVE breakfast. And I REALLY love a good breakfast. And Mary's has it. Yes, get in line early. WFU daughter didn't realize that they opened at 10:00 and we were there around 9:20. Good thing. One family in front of us left, so we were the third table to be seated. ANd don't kid yourself--the line may stretch down the block, but tables are seated one at a time and not quickly.

But once you are seated, the service is attentive and personal and efficient.

The decor is quite funky and wonderfully eclectic. Different decorative salt and pepper shakers on every table. Some items for sale--jewelry and accessories. It is a bit noisy.

But it is the food that is the star. Most in our party had a version of the a la carte: where you choose a type of preparation (I had the one with potatoes, hubby went without potatoes) so a scramble or an omelet or a frittata or (can't remember the name) but with potatoes--large cubes that are browned on the grill. My scramble: potatoes (lovely golden brown finish on them), avocado, bacon and jalapeño pimiento cheese with two over easy eggs. Delish! Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. Some at the table had different variations. The biscuit---OMG----it was a massive thing that was light as air, but nearly the size of a large hamburger bun. Cheese grits (choose your cheese) were creamy and piping hot and lovely.
I can't wait to go back and experience this brunch again. There are so many variations (there was even a plaintain special the day we were there), I can't wait to try something new. Yes, worth the wait!!!! LOVED IT!

Mary's breakfasts are truly spectacular! On this visit I had one of the Mexican themed specials. They are different every time and always creatively composed and decadently executed. Preparation takes a little extra time, but I'm sure that's because everything is cooked to order. There's a lot of love in Mary's cooking!

Sunday morning strategy: you need to be there before 9:45 to wait in line to get in around 10:30. Expect a 30-45 minute wait after you order (the coffee and tea flow during this time). Then the entrees arrive and they are worth the wait. All 4 of us left very full and happy. (For those thin kings of arriving later there was still a short line at noon and the restaurant closes at 2 in Sundays)

Stopped in here for breakfast. Very funky feel, plenty of seating area with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. I had the biscuits and gravy plate with a side of grits. The restaurant is very much into the current trend of locally sourced foods and the quality shines through. I recommend it highly for a full on breakfast.

This is what mom's southern cooking would be if mom had a focus on fresh, local ingredients and gourmet flourishes. There is a lot of love in this cooking. The southern biscuits with sausage gravy are perfect, and the vegetarian version is amazing. Any of the Mexican Brunch options are superb. Service is not fast, but I think that's because Mary and her team take the time to do it right.
