“Totally pleasant experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 24, 2012

The facilities are spotless, rooms well-appointed and beds and pillows very comfortable. Staff are all friendly and ready to assist as needed. Breakfast is excellent and ready ahead of the scheduled time. Fresh coffee always available, fresh-baked cookies were set out on weekend afternoons. The heating/cooling units in the rooms are controlled by wall thermostats and function well. We were completely satisfied during our 3-night stay at this easy-to-find facility, and enjoyed every feature of our 4th-floor quiet room.

Ross M,

Thank you for such a wonderful review! It gives us great pleasure to know that our efforts to offer great service, a clean and comfortable guestroom and friendly staff have been recognized. We do have a great location to Wake Forest University, many area businesses and area attactions with easy access off I-52 and University Parkway.

We look forward to your next visit!

This Hampton is pretty new and in a convenient location near US52, WFU and downtown W-S. The staff is very helpful and friendly. The rooms are fresh and clean. When the hotel is full, parking can be a problem as the lot is not big enough to handle everyone.

If you're a Hilton Honors member, this property runs specials from time to time. I've stayed here over two weekends since Summer 2011 and have only spent 12,500 pts/night, much less than the usual 25,000+ pts required by most other Hilton properties.

You won't be disappointed with this Hampton. Give them a try.

I'd not stayed in a Hampton Inn before, so I didn't know what to expect, but overall I thought it was good for the price, and breakfast was more than adequate.

My room was clean and functional, but why so dark? Lighter colored carpets and furnishings would make the room much more cheery.

Two annoyances for me were the TV and the Internet connection. The picture quality for most of the TV channels were very poor, and HBO was generally not working at all (Showtime did work, but was very grainy and fuzzy). There's free Internet (cabled and Wi-Fi) but about once a day you have to re-enter the code (which usually didn't work) or your Hilton Hhonors ID and PIN, which I found very annoying. Are they really so worried that someone passing by might grab free access?

There are plenty of places to eat within easy walking distance, and a Walmart nearby, so it's possible to survive here without a car.

TheProbe,

We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about some of the issues you encountered during your stay. It concerns the staff when everything is not perfect for our guests. Your comments were reviewed and steps have been taken to correct and upgrade the internet and satelite reception. As per Hampton requirements, each day at noon the access code resets and needs to be re-entered. I do the same in the sales office.

We are happy to hear you enjoyed the complimentary breakfast and visited with some of our local restaurants. We hope you will return and enjoy our upgraded TV and Internet systems!

When you first arrive the staff is outstanding and welcoming. The rooms are immaculate and the breakfast is actually changed every day. Our group was treated like royalty and they all said the staff met there every need. I have stayed at hundreds of hotels this past year and this by far is the best for the value. Groups are welcomed at the door and the amenities nearby are unbelievable. There is a Walmart superstore, Lowes Food, and Big Lots within walking distance. There are at least 10 restaurants within 2-4 blocks, and a Sam;s club right next door. I travel at least 150 days a year and this was one stop I really felt at home. If your group wants accessibility and convenience then this is the place. Easy access to hotel off 52 and easy access to all university's and schools. Just a great place to unwind and relax.

Room Tip: The 4th floor is the bomb but 3rd floors are quiet and offer a good view as well

I've stayed at many different Hampton Inns, and this one is one of the best. The lobby and my room were very clean and modern. The bathroom appears to have been remodeled recently, and the shower was clean and worked well.
The surrounding area is quiet, yet you are within walking distance to many shops and restaurants. The night of my stay on the second floor, I woke up a few times to running footsteps above--the walls (and ceilings) aren't soundproof. I found out at breakfast time that a Girl Scout troop was staying there, so that's why it was so noisy. I'm sure this group hadn't earned their "Hotel Respect" badges, so it's not really the hotel's fault. I would recommend staying on another, higher floor.

Room Tip: Choose the fourth floor for a quiet experience.

I was upgraded to a Jr. Suite and it was so nice !! Front desk staff were very pleasant and helpful with directions and suggestions of places to eat. Would definitely stay at this location again while working in King or Winston-Salem

Room Tip: I stayed on the 2nd floor at the end of the hallway.

This place is fine. If you need to be on this side of Winston Salem then stay here. It's near a Walmart and lots of other stores etc. I found it hectic with lots of kids visiting college. I liked the Hanes Mall area better.

sbccc,

Thank you for taking a few moments to write a review of your recent visit. Your comments lead us to believe you enjoyed the hotel but were looking for an area around the Hanes Mall. From time to time the city is filled with students attending Wake Forest Univeristy events. If you call ahead for your next visit, we can let you know if we have any teams at the hotel and guide you to another location, that way ensuring a quiet stay. Otherwise, we look forward to welcoming you back the the Hampton Inn & Suites University very soon!
