“Great Place To Step Back In Time”
Reviewed September 23, 2012

My Husband and I went to Old Salem as day trip just to get away. We went on a Friday so there wasn't too much congestion. You can walk the grounds and go into the shops for free, but in order to get into the historical houses you do have to buy a ticket. The bread and cookies are great, maybe a little overprices but I guess that is what you get no matter where you go anymore. The guides were very knowledgeable and friendly. I would recommend to anyone that enjoys history.

“HISTORY AT IT'S BEST”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

Williamsburg is interesting, as is Greenfield Village (Dearborn, MI), but Old Salem goes back to the 1700s, is a complete, unified village, and is occupied by folks who own and live in some of these historical properties.
You walk among beautiful gardens, fascinating architecture, and a college that is 240 years old.
Some buildings are individual museums, with exceptionally knowledgeable docents, demonstrating the making of various items. Bread and cookies are fresh and delicious at Winkler's Bakery. There are gift shops with USEFUL items offered.
Buy the Family pass and go more than once.

“Old Salem”
Reviewed September 7, 2012

I used to go walking here. I would see the house everyday. Old Salem is a GREAT place to spend family time and to learn about our history. Through the year there are several activities that include the Single Brothers House. I recommend you visit for the Ghost Walk or the Candlelight ceremony.

“Enjoyable Afternoon”
Reviewed September 6, 2012

We didn't get started too early in the afternoon strolling through this quaint town, but the couple hours there were very rewarding. It was a joy to travel back in time in the shops and the bakery and hat store. Next time we are down that direction we will make a point of getting there earlier in the day.
