“Gorgeous park with small museum and spectacular trails”
Reviewed November 8, 2012

If you want to hike, this where to go. Start at the small museum and store and hit the trails. My favorite goes through the woods to a Moravian cemetery dating back hundreds of years. Historic buildings are on site to tour, including a church and barn.

“Drive-thru History”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

While Historic Bethabara Park may be much smaller than neighboring Old Salem Museum and Gardens, a visit here helps one to put into place a proper understanding of the settlement of this area of NC by the Moravians in the 18th century. There is a reconstructed fort, a working garden, buildings remains, a restored barn, and several restored buildings for tour. The Visitors Center is staffed by costumed interpreters and houses many nice souvenirs and gifts as well as Morvaian foods. Although there is a nominal charge for guided tour, visitors are free to view the introductory film, browse the gift shop, stroll along the grounds, and hike the nature trails located throughout the Park.

“Understanding the Moravians”
Reviewed October 13, 2012

The lady at the visitor center explained the historical mural and answered our questions. The video presentation added to our understanding. Our guide to the community center/church was well-informed. We also enjoyed strolling the grounds and reading the plaques by the building ruins. We came away with a great admiration for these early settlers and all they had accomplished.
