My family stayed here for two nights. The hotel staff were all friendly, but the entire property needs to be renovated. The double beds in the room were extra small, the furnishings were very dated. The common areas and elevators need updating too. The staff went out of their way to bring us lemonade to our room when the vending maching ate our money, and the staff in the free breakfast area were friendly. But overall, this property needs to be updated to justify the price.

I have stayed at the HI and Conference Center in the past. You can't beat the rate they give patients of Wake Forest Baptist. The rooms are great and the staff are very nice. The hotel while old looking on the outside is quite modern inside. The only disappointment this trip was the change in their complimentary bathing products. I really loved the orange scented products they used to have and was looking forward to using them again.

This place is always consistent in cleanliness, courtesy of the staff and discounts for hospital patients and family. We won't stay anywhere else in Winston-Salem. We have found the best and plan to stick with the folks at The Hawthorne. It is our home away from home!

Room Tip: The views from higher rooms are nice.

Stayed four nights while attending a conference. The stand out is the staff who were all very friendly and helpful.
The property is older with the guest rooms located in a "connected" building with a covered corridor to access them. Drawback to this you have to carry your luggage up or down a short flight of stairs. Elevators to rooms are small but very fast.
Food in the restaurant was fine, but order off the menu during Sunday Brunch is not available. I had the brunch but for the price, I did not like the quality.
Room furnishing's were what I would call Medium quality. Pillows small and mattress felt "flat."
TV was smaller but good HD Picture,WiFi worked well and was very fast for downloads. HVAC worked well and is central air so it is very quiet.
This property is somewhat by it self with not a lot of of options for eating close by it was however very quiet, and I heard no traffic noise at night.
Would I stay again/recommend? Perhaps I would have to think about it.

Room Tip: I was fifth floor end of the hallway facing the pool area and it was quiet.

Really great experience with friendly staff. It felt like a home away from home.
Practical and value for money.I will definitely recommend staying here again.
I spent two nights during a conference and enjoyed all the facilities of the hotel. First time eating catfish which tasted good and loved the chocolate cake too.
