My husband and I took a road trip with puppy in tow from Savannah up the Atlantic coast through Virginia. We were mainly looking for clean, safe, inexpensive places to stay that allowed for pets. We didn't need anything fancy, as we were more interested in exploring the places we visited then spending time at the hotel. The Baymont met these requirements more so than any of the other hotels we stayed in on the trip. The room was clean, the staff was extremely friendly and sweet to our pup, and the location was perfect...not too far from downtown Wilmington, the Airlie Gardens, or Wrightsville Beach. It was located in "Everywhere America", in the middle of all the strip malls, which isn't the most charming locale, but everything you could ever need is very close...grocery store, Starbucks, Petco, Staples, etc. We loved getting lunch at the Pita Delite across the street. Also, the Baymont is only three miles from Wilmington's Empio Dog Park, which was an extra bonus! The continental breakfast was great, and we loved stopping in the office for the fresh baked cookies.
If I have to give a criticism, I would say that the furniture was old, and we could tell we were in a dog friendly hotel because some of it was scratched and chewed up...but hey, we stayed there precisely because they let us bring our dog, so that didn't bother us much. Also, the internet connection was pretty poor in our room. But again, we weren't there to hang out on our computers, so that wasn't a big deal.
If I was passing through Wilmington again, I would stay here. I give three stars not for any poor quality or for being unhappy with anything, just because this seems an appropriate rating for the room and the hotel as a whole.

The rates were good, but the floor was so sticky that we had to put the sheets on top of it so that our feet did not stick to it and/or turn black! We will be paying slightly more next time to stay in a hotel with clean floors.

We have stayed at this particular hotel before and were disappointed in the cleanliness of the room. Was supposed to be a non-smoking room, but did have a hint of a smoking room. Carpet was dirty and moist, bathtub did not drain well and there were roaches in the bathroom.
I deeply apologize that you did not have a good stay with us this time. We always want our guests to come back and stay. I am so sorry and hope that you will return to give us another try. Our sincere apologies.
