“Nice for a Motel”
Reviewed July 17, 2009

For a $59 motel, this place was really nice. We stayed here because we had to get up at 3:00am for a 5:30am flight. Didn't want to pay alot for a room we wouldn't spend much time in. It was a great location from the airport, beach, and freeways. Clean, staff was friendly and helpful. Perfect for one night, or just passing trhough. Not the Marriott, but reasonably priced and well maintained.

Excellent value for a quick stop. We paid $59 +tax. Surprisingly very clean. Quiet. Great staff! No frills, such as continental breakfast. The pool is beautiful and well maintained. Room even had iron and board, and toaster. Full size fridge, had 2 burner stove (no oven) Free wireless internet. We were well satisfied, and would definitely stay again.

We stayed at the Suburban Extended Stay one night because of the generally favorable reviews on Trip Advisor. It is on a busy road east of downtown, so we asked for a quiet room in the rear, but it was near the noisy pool and upstairs--the stairs are far from some of the rooms the way the second level is configured. We decided to change rooms to the side toward the rear on the first floor. The staff was very accomodating and provided us with 2 additional pillows for the room. The room was very pleasant, had 2 good beds and a small kitchen with microwave, refrigerator, etc. There was a computer in the lobby for internet use.

The major problem that night was that the whole area lost electricity shutting off air conditioners, lights, telephone, etc. This motel office is closed at night so there was no one to contact. The emergency number to call is the motel's number which did not work in this emergency. We had to use our cell phone to call the motel next door to find out what happened. We suggested to the motel and Choice Hotels that a second emergency number should be available, which is not connected to the motel.

Other than that problem, this is a good value stop in Wilmington.

This is a good hotel if you are on a budget. We stayed one night and I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer. We stayed at an Extended Stay in Upstate New York and it was nicer. This was a little worn and didn't have any frills, no hair dryer or breakfast. However, it was half the price of our other rooms that week. My main reason for staying here was that the nicer, riverfront hotels cost 3 times as much and I needed to do laundry. It was very quiet, the room was big w/a kitchen and the staff was friendly (upon checking in, she told us to let her know if our room was okay and she made a point of asking again when we came down to do laundry).

There’s no doubt this Suburban Extended offers good value for the money. The property looks good and the rooms were clean.

The challenge here is the bedding, it’s simply third rate, the pillows in particular.

Janice, the front desk employee, did everything she could to find some extra pillows but there wasn’t an extra one in the house. Not good!

While she was truly helpful in every sense of the word, there should have been extra pillows in the house.

we paid $65 for a weekend night, which was an excellent value for the large room with decent beds, large bathroom, suprisingly well-appointed kitchen (full-size fridge, two-burner stovetop, microwave, toaster, coffee maker, complete eating/cooking ware for two), and everything was clean and functional. compared to what you usually get at this price point, it's an excellent deal. if you're expecting a mariott residence inn, you should probably stay at a mariott residence inn.

This hotel was a pleasant surprise. I was a little worried that it may be dirty, smelly or in a scary neighborhood because it was not as expensive as many other hotels listed in the Wilmington area. My husband and my daughter were with me since we were checking out the UNCW campus. It was in a great spot and served its purpose perfectly. A clean quiet place to sleep with a great kitchenette. One thing that wasn't that great is that the office is only open from 7 AM to 11 PM so I was a little worried that there was no one to call if there was a problem at night. THe receptionist told us that there are phones outside of the building that connect to a manager somewhere and I guess that is how they deal with that. Fortunately, we didn't need to use it. Overall a fine hotel, no indoor pool or spa or gym, but a safe, clean place to stay.
