a little bit of baja california atmosphere, some truly tasty food, attentive staff, and great beer choices. Awesome beef, chicken, fish, even chorizo... some pretty tasty hot sauces to choose from as well... You have to try to know how good it is... ijs

This was our first visit to K38 Baja Grill in Porters Neck and I'll have to say we were pleased. Not your average SW food, like you find in some of the larger chain restaurants. From the warm chips and fresh made salsa, everything tasted like it was freshly made with fresh ingredients. The restaurant is in a strip shopping center, and it's a little bit crowded and noisy. I had the Roadside tacos and they were great. They have an extensive menu, and many many items under $10, which makes it a good value too. There are two locations in Wilmington, and we found it to be a pleasant change of pace from the normal Tex-Mex food you usually find. We will return our next trip to Wilmington.

Our server was Rebecca who was very friendly and was often checking on us.
The Carne Asada had great flavor and reminded me of my favorites back in the Roberto's days of So Cal.

Mexician restaurants typically have very good service with attentive waitstaff however K-38 did not. The bartenders were so busy talking to their friends that they ignored the rest of the customers sitting at the bar. We waited 24 minutes for our drinks (yes we timed them) as did most of the people the bartenders didn't know. We were pleased when our table was ready hoping the service would improve, however it did not. The waiter was so flighty we thought he was drunk. He couldn't get the orders right because he didn't write them down, couldn't remember that we needed silverware since we didnt have any and couldn't be bothered once to see if our orders were right once they arrived. Sadly they were not. However, once the orders were corrected by another waiter, we were very pleased with the taste. The seafood dishes were very fresh and the seasoning was perfect. The atmosphere of the grill was very pleasing with multiple rooms and walls so the noise from the bar didn't carry thru the entire restaurant. For the food alone, we would go back however we really hope management takes note of what is going on with the bartenders and wait staff.
