“Pretty good”

Went to see the house on free day. Pretty good but the guide seemed very nervous. Other then that, history lovers will like this one.

“Walking tours”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2012

Historical walking tours of the downtown Wilmington area are offered by volunteers. They follow similar routes but each volunteer has different specialty areas making the tours similar but not identical.

“Interesting house located on the corner of Orange and Third”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 14, 2012

The Zebulon Latimer House is a must-see in Wilmington, NC. The home is full of artifacts collected during the Latimers’ stay in the house. So much history is contained in this house on the corner of Orange and 3rd. All rooms are furnished and clean. In addition to the appearance, the guides know so much about each section of the home. This ensures that you will learn something on the tour. The Zebulon Latimer House is certainly worth your money. A tour takes approximately one hour. If you go, you must ask your guide why there is no crown molding in any of the rooms.

“Thoroughly enjoyed the tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2011

The guide was very informative and knowledgeable. She knew the history of the house and was able to answer many questions. Unlike other tour houses you could join the tour throughout the house and quite at any time. The tour is well worth the time and price.

“Ridiculous! Could not gain entrance to tour the attraction!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 7, 2011

I took my daughter and some visiting family members to tour the Latimer House. Prior to heading downtown, we checked and found that it was open from 11-5 pm on Saturdays. There was no way to reserve a spot for a tour so we assumed that it was a fairly open admission policy. We arrived at Latimer House at 12:45 and found a sign at the door that the next tour did not begin until 2:15!!! We spent some time downtown and came back at 2:05 so as not to miss the tour....only to find the sign had changed and now said that the next tour didn't begin until 3:00!!!!!!! After several attempts ringing the doorbell, an employee finally answered and said that they had already started another tour and that we would have to wait until 3:00 because tours are based on a first come, first serve basis!!! However, there is no way to sign up for the next tour or notify the staff if you hope to be included on a tour. I guess we could have sat on the porch for 50-55 minutes so that we wouldn't be left behind again, but we were quite disgusted by the treatment. Latimer House lost a considerable amount of money and we will not be returning!
