Dropped in last week, got an annual membership, went through both exhibits, and then dropped by their cafe for some nice wine. Very quiet restful place. Nice outdoor patio with chairs, tables, and market umbrellas. Nice little shopping area as well. They do crafts on site, I plan to return for some photography courses, painting and perhaps pottery!

I've been meaning to go to the Cameron Art Museum since moving here 4 years ago and finally made the trip last week. I don't think they have a "free" day like a lot of larger museums and the price to get in ($10 per adult) is a little steep given what they are offering. Last Thursday they had only one wing open, which consisted of about 6 small rooms. The most interesting was the room with the people practicing Tia chi! We thought maybe we were missing something so we asked the front desk if there were other wings open. There were not. Luckily there was an electric cellist playing there the same night because otherwise it would have been a short night. The cellist was excellent. Although we did not eat, the menu looked tempting and would be a reason to go back when another wing was open. I would recommend going when there is another function going on or if you are also planning to eat there.

Museum was a disappointment. Adm. fee was too much for what they offer , which is very little. I'd go to the Cape Fear Museum , lots more for the money.

The main gallery was being changed over but the Hughes Wing exhibition was quite interesting. Titled "From Gatehouse to Winehouse: Inside the Artist's Workplace", it had recreations of Minnie Evan's tiny gatehouse, Elisabeth Chant's winehouse and Claude Howell's downtown apartment along with their works. Nice museum!

Took our daughter here when she visited from the north. It only took an hour to see it. We were surprised that there were so few pieces of art. They did provide brochures on the exhibit halls which were informative. The exhibits they had were detailed and interesting.
