The reason to go to dockside is for the view -- and what a view it has. It's sits way on the beach with a panoramic view of just about everything. We sat outside on the pier -- after waiting about 15 minutes. We used that time to walk down to the end of the pier and look around. Again, great view. The night we went there it was a bit breezy (about 15 knots gusting) but we loved that feeling of the wind blowing in our faces! However, that did mean we had to be careful to not let out napkins blow away.

The service was -- ok. Not horrid -- just not great. We had to wait about 5-10 minutes for our server to see us, and we ordered our drinks.. and then it took another 10 minutes to get them (even though the bar was just in the back). We then ordered our food -- only to find out 5 minutes later that one of our entrees (scallops, a speciality item of theirs) was 86'ed! Ugh ..

We had the crab drip -- nom! And the fresh hot hush puppies were also very good (we ordered a second basket). The stuffed shrimp looked huge and our friends indicated they were good - someone ordered a steak .. maybe not the best idea. It was fine, but certainly nothing special you couldn't get at Applebee's etc. We ordered the Grouper grilled and that was very good too with a seasoned white wine butter sauce.

So, again -- solid place. Reasonably priced (not cheap, but reasonable) and great view.

If you are looking for a simple "no frills" place located right on the water, then the Dockside is it! Dress code is very casual. People pull their boats up to the dock, so you would not be shocked to find people in their boat/bathing attire in both the restaurant and bar. No reservations are accepted and if you go on the weekend, you will most likely have to wait for a table. No worries though, just head to the bar or the deck (two levels) and enjoy the view. The bar does not have food service, but all you need to do is walk right up to the hostess at the restaurant and order. The bar is well stocked and there are always multiple bartenders, so getting a drink does not take a long amount of time. The deck area has tables and if you would like an umbrella for some shade, all you need to do is ask. There is always a good mix of locals and visitors.

Food is simple and they have a kids menu as well. This is also a good place for bloody marys, they are served with a shrimp, celery, lemon, and olive. Al

Dockside has an awesome outside area for enjoying a casual drink or having dinner with friends! Be sure to wait outside on the deck that overlooks the beautiful and active marina and Intercoastal waterway (it is worth the wait!!). For appetizers, be sure to order the Tsunami shrimp! Also, be sure to ask your server for their complimentary hush puppies!
