While every visit is a relaxing and wonderful excursion, the experience does vary with the seasons. Spring is best (think April) when Camellias, Azaleas, tulips and other spring bulbs are in full bloom. If it is your first visit take a free (no tipping) orientation tour on the tram to get a lay of the land and see where you may want to spend your time. The 467 year old live oak is breath taking as are all of the Spanish moss covered oak trees. The 1900's Pergola is not to be missed, as well as the fountains, butterfly house and bottle chapel honoring Minnie Evans. Plan on spending 1-2 hours here for a beautiful look back at an early 20th century formal 67 acre garden.
At $8.00 for non-residents it is a vacation time bargain.
