“A rare site”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

This is a truly unique historic site. With a standing urban slave quarters out back, it is a rare example of an urban mansion, rare in the fact that it was not destroyed during the war. The family history, told so eloquently by the guides, also makes this an interesting visit. Well run place, historic preservation at its best.

“Historic Home”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Beautifully restored home in the heart of Wilmington. There are 3 options for tours. You can go with a guide to tour and hear stories about the home, take a self-guided audio tour or take a self-guided tour with a hard copy paper description of the home. The furnishings are minimal however the details and the restoration of the home are impressive.

“Beautiful!”
Reviewed June 21, 2013 via mobile

Wonderful guide brought the home's occupants to life! Absolutely beautiful workmanship. We took our very well behaved toddler with us. The only challenge was waiting so long for the tour to begin (45 minutes in the hot sun).

One of those visits that was way more interesting once you learned 'the rest of the story'.... to the credit of the people of Wilmington against all odds this fabulous house is there for all to enjoy... the Tour with headphones was excellent and a pace that you easily controlled.
