Show lessAfter reading poor reviews of Wilmington hotels until I was nearly cross-eyed, I remembered the pleasant experience I'd had with the Wingate in Concord, NC and looked for one in Wilmington-great! Found one. Our experience was great from check-in to check-out. The front desk clerk suggested 2 restaurants at Wrightsville Beach but we did not get in but found a great Carraba's nearby the hotel. The hotel was super crowded the first night (day before Labor Day) and the next morning the breakfast area was mobbed. No problem for the hotel personnel who handled the crowd like real pros, did not run short on food and we found the fare very varied with the usual muffins, etc. but also eggs and sausage. Our stay was great and we plan to return again to this Wingate.
We (my girlfriend and me) visited Wilmington in september 2012 during our trip across USA. Our target was clear - visit battleship North Carolina and then proceed to Florida. We have no reservation, but for very kind reception clerk it was no problem. Room was clear and very comfortable, breakfast tasty - we enjoyed our one day stay very much.
