I stayed at the The Wilmingtonian while travelling on business. I did like it in many ways. The suite room was nice, decorated well with a kitchen included. The staff was nice enough. For my purposes, it was fine.

The only drawback is that it was a bit loud at night. There seems to be a bit of street noise, but maybe that is just part of staying downtown. There is an all night grocery on the corner and it seemed busy. As a woman travelling alone, I felt a bit vulnerable, but that's just me.

I have stayed at the Wilmingtonian before and love each visit. It is so comfy that I feel that I am on vacation even though I am traveling on business. The staff is friendly. The rooms are neat and clean. I love that you can walk to the water. I love the decor of each room. The beds are great! The only thing is breakfast is a tad weak on choices. I will return!

Every bit of our experience at the Wilmingtonian was superb! We were greeted by two incredibly friendly and helpful staff members upon arrival, thoroughly enjoyed our one bedroom suite in a historic building, loved rocking in the chairs on the balcony and had a fantastic breakfast. This hotel is centrally located in historic downtown and walking distance to many attractions. The nightime security guard and off-street parking were very much appreciated. We would definitely stay here again!

Saw the other reviews and have always trusted TripAdvisor travelers. The greeting we received from David (at the front desk) was warm and friendly. The room (Santa Fe Suite) was clean, comfortable and beautiful. The wide plank hardwood floor really added to the ambiance. The buildings are all worthy of a photo and the location was nice as well. My wife and I can't say enough about David. He not only showed the Southern Hospitality that they advertise, we went out of his way to find us a restaurant that was open late on a Sunday night (before Christmas Eve). We'll certainly remember our stay and the kindness of the staff as well. Top-notch customer service, clean rooms and a nice setting make all the difference in the world. The only unfortunate part was that we arrived in the dark and left early the next morning (also in the dark) so we never got to truly appreciate the beauty of the area. We will next time.

We have traveled extensively and this is by far the worst breakfast we have encounter. The breakfast is better at very inexpensive motels.

Housekeeping was untimely; normally late in the afternoon.

Parking was inadequate meaning they have more guests than spaces. You are forced to park in paid parking and then you have to pay $5 to park. On weekends the paid parking lot has signage that leads you to believe it is ok then you find you have a $25 fine and the staff at the hotel could care less.

Please find another place or you will be disapointed. A better stay would be motel 6.

We spent two daysat the Wilmintonian in early October and we have to say we were dis-appointed in many ways. We stayed in the Henry Miller Suite, and first off, we have no idea what the theme of this room was. Maybe the hotel thinks Henry Miller would have liked it? We stayed once in a Hemingway suite and that room was decorated with items related to Ernest Hemingway. That made sense. Only after we had booked the room and paid our deposit did we find out that the "breakfast" part of the B&B was not in fact delivered to your room, but was in fact a continental service in a small room located in the office. The second night, there was a nightclub located just north of the hotel that played on an outdoor patio until 2 AM. The bass of the Hip-Hop music shook the windows of the room and made sleeping impossible. Overall, we were extremely disappointed in the entire Wilmingtonian experience and will be sure to advise any one we know going to Wilmington, (a wonderful destination non the less) not to choose the Wilmingtonian

Ours was a single night stop enroute to Charleston. We didn't use a fraction of the in-room facilities but was impressed with the layout. In-room filter coffee was very good and breakfast was adequate though not impressive. Rocking chairs on verandah were relaxing after long drive. Inn well situated close to charming old centre and river front. Young lad at reception did willingly help with bags. Reasonably convenient free parking. On balance value not great unless staying longer and make full use of in-room kitchen facilities.
We ate at the mansion next door but had to dine in Grill Room due to private party. We were given a tour of upstairs later. Food was fine but with hindsight would ahve preferred to go elsewhere if I couldn't eat in main restaurant.
