“I love reptiles, but”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

I was disappointed by this. There are cages with mixed species- boa constrictor, reticulated and anaconda in same cage. They have several boas spread through out in different cages. Likewise some rattlesnake species were represented several times. The snakes are in clean cages, but many are obese- no better for snakes than humans.
Meanwhile the front lobby has a huge mural about "geoengineering" and chemical trails from airplanes as part of a simultaneous slam on global warming and educational piece on Morgellons disease. Google it if you need more info.

“Cool place to go”
Reviewed September 23, 2013

If you have a thing or interest in snakes I then I would highly recommend visiting. They have a wide variety of poisonous snakes from across the world as well as ones native to the States. They also have a saltwater croc and a couple Nile crocs. It was cool to be able see the snakes up close that you would normally only see on tv.

“Something different”
Reviewed September 22, 2013

Visited on a rainy beach day. The location is great, right off the Riverwalk. Agree with a prior reviewer that the display in the lobby is a little too political for a museum. I thought it was a real display until I realized it was an anti-pesticide, doomsday ad. Weird. Person at front desk was not friendly. Fees were $8 per person, including kids over 2. Lots of cool snakes to check out, but descriptions were too long to read easily. Parts of museum were really stinky and hot. Several live cockroaches on the ground, which I wondered/hoped might be food for the snakes. Snake feeding was best part of the visit although some people might be grossed out watching a snake eat a dead rat pulled out of a bucket of dead rats. Display about snake bites a little graphic for young kids IMO. Glad to go once but probably wouldn't go again.

“Fun for the whole family”
Reviewed September 4, 2013

As long as you aren't afraid of snakes or gross photos of snake bites, this is an awesomely fun place. Call them to find out when feeding time is (on the weekend) because all the snakes and reptiles go crazy when they know it's feeding time. Feeding time is the most activity you will ever see in a zoo.

“Needed updates”
Reviewed September 3, 2013

Liked the variety of snakes and reptiles but the carpet was patched with duct tape and just needed a facelift. The wall out front made it seem like they were forcing their political views on you which had absolutely nothing to do with reptiles.
