I have friends who live in the Historical District of Wilmington and wanted a hotel close by. The Coastline was perfect. We had a suite. It was nearly a one-bedroom apartment. A small wet bar with coffee maker, microwave and fridge was incredibly convenient.

The room itself was a gem. Comfortable furniture, two televisions and nice firm beds. We even had a Jacuzzi tub in the bathroom.

The folks behind the desk were super-helpful and cut us a special deal because we stayed for three nights, even though one of the nights was New Year's Eve.

The breakfast in the morning was great. I loved that we could stay in our PJs and eat at the table in our room. We had a vast selection of items, all of which were delivered promptly at the appointed time in a wicker basket.

I would recommend this hotel and I would stay here again without hesitation.

Very nice hotel, clean and modern and a great location. Very helpful staff. Quiet and a great walk to both downtown and the waterfront.

Expected more from the reviews I read but the motel is old and seemed dark and depressing. The rooms only have one queen bed and our room was on the bottom floor and the carpet was still wet from the hurricane that came through. Bath was not clean and the whole room just seemed bad. Had reservations for two nights but after the first night moved to another hotel.

The location was quite picturesque and the staff was very friendly. However the rooms were nothing spectacular; pretty basic as to be excpected from a Best Western. Avoid the ground floor as very damp; try for one of the higher rooms.

Breakfast was a bit funky. Served at your room, with unremarkable choice.

My friend and I went to Wilmington overnight and had booked this hotel in advance because of it's prices and other reviews written on it. I cannot explain how utterly disgusting the rooms were, we found mice droppings under the bedside table!!! There was hair all over the bathroom floor and shower/tub area. The counter top had been burned with cigarettes, although this is a non-smoking facility. The towels in the bathroom seemed as though they were 20 years old and never replaced and our sink desperately needed Drano. The windows DO offer beautiful views of the river, however, were covered with tiny dead gnats and looked as though they hadn't ever been touched with a cleaner.....not to mention the gnats that were still alive and drove us crazy all night. I cannot believe this hotel received any good ratings at all, I was very disappointed and actually left early.

After vacationing on the Outer Banks, we decided to spend a few days in Wilmington. The Coastline Inn was very clean and well-maintained. The best feature was the continental breakfast delivered to your room at a time you specify. It was great to eat in the privacy of our room with our 2 small children rather than lug them to a restaurant. Breakfast included a fair number of items to choose from as well as a large pot of coffee. Every hotel should do it this way!

The location also can't be beat. All rooms are river view, and the hotel is in walking distance of many shops and attractions. Plus, a very nice beach (Wrightsville) is only a 10-minute drive. A previous reviewer mentioned negotiating with the hotel for a better price. Unfortunately the person I spoke with would not negotiate at all. Still, I found the rate to be very reasonable.

Looking back, I would definitely have chosen to stay in this clean attractive hotel and drive to the beach everyday than stay at the overpriced beachfront Outer Banks inn we stayed in. Keeping in mind that this is not a 5 star resort, you can't beat the charm of Wilmington and the Coastline Inn.

After reading the great reviews, we decided on the Coastline Inn and what an excellent choice. While hardly a luxury hotel, it was very nice and in an absolutely perfect location; walking distance from downtown Wilmington, overlooking Cape Fear. The staff was very accommodating in every way. Rooms were clean, well working air conditioning, and lovely view. The continental breakfast was a bit desired; i.e. only chocolate chip muffins as a choice of muffins and no danish but it was kind of funny when they explained they hadn't been to Sam's Club lately for supplies. Nice big pot of freshly brewed coffee delivered to your room and your desired time. They had a small exercise room and internet conference room. Could not beat the location and the price. I would highly recommend this place, if you know ahead of time, it is a "no frills" hotel. An added hint, call the hotel for prices after you check internet prices. I learned from a member of their staff after they changed management a couple of years ago that things really improved. The staff is now given a commission for telephone sales and they negotiate prices. Our room rate was far better than the internet.

Enjoy the Coastline and you'll really enjoy Wilmington! I'm considering moving here.
