Love Thalian! The selection of plays, musical events and films at Cinematique will appeal to you at one time or another. The variety is amazing. We recently went to see "Rent", fabulous production put on by the opera group. As good as the Broadway! "Oklahoma!" is playing next and not my favorite Hammerstein musical, so we will pass (Do "South Pacific", please!) but we will be back for the September performance of "Little Shop of Horrors". There are upcoming ballet for children and of course the holiday events. The films are often foreign Academy Award nominated films and then there are the Indies and the films that either don't come/or stay very long in major theater, like "Quartet".The theater itself has undergone some extensive renovations in the main stage and it has been beautifully restored. Outside lighting was a recent addition and highlights the Grecian columns of this lovely place. We may even do the New Year's Eve Party this year, drinks, dinner and dancing! A Wilmington Jewel!!

We recently saw "Rent" here. What a gorgeous old theatre, and well maintained. The acoustics were very good, and the seats were comfortable. I like how they took pains not to sell tickets directly behind a column (obstructed view). My only complaint is that the seats aren't staggered--in other words, you will sit directly behind the person in front of you. Bad if the person in front of you has a big head and keeps shifting positions. Other than that, enjoyed the production and this venue very much.

Thalian Hall is such a Beautiful old theatre! So nostalgic and elegant! I highly recommend a show or tour. Backstage was also interesting.
