We drove an hour to get to the museum and I wouldn't say it was worth it. I was looking forward to the children's section and was disappointed. The only interesting thing in the room was a working model train. Other than that, there were two messy train tables and some plastic baby toys- nothing most kids don't already have at home.
My pre-schooler did enjoy running around in the locomotive and caboose outside though.

Great place to visit. An hour well spent for children and adults. Good place to just sit in the sun as well.

This tiny little museum is quaint, located in downtown Wilmington off Water St. Don't expect anything huge or elaborate. It just doesn't pack a punch. What it does do, however, is give you a little brief explanation via models, photos, and a portion of a train you can climb on, as to what the RR days were like back in the day. A 9 shelf "store" in the back of the museum offers tshirts, color books, and model trains. **Cute**.

Terrific for children and adults - many model train layouts for big and little kids to run! Experts on train history are on site to answer your questions. Great location too!

Wonderful place to visit , especially with children / grandchildren. A place for the little ones and the older children of all ages. Lots of books to select to purchase.
