“Nice place for a short visit”
Reviewed August 2, 2012

We have a family membership to the railroad museum and have taken our small children there on many occassions. They have a small area devoted to kids with train toys. Seems to be quite the place to take little kids for a short play session. We would not go if we didn't have the membership because we don't usually stay longer than an hour and the admission price isn't worth it for us because the little kids aren't into reading the history. For adults (particularly model train fanatics), you could spend quite a while viewing the back room with all the working model trains set on display. They have a nice area devoted to history of trains in the Wilmington area with artifacts.

“Nice visit”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

This museum was full of history and HO trains. We were disappointed in that there was only one full size steam engine that was on display. We were under the impression that the yard contained many full size trains.

“A Really Nice Trip”
Reviewed July 9, 2012

Lots of exhibits chronicling the start of the railroad through more current rail travel. Very nice setups of model trains. They have a few real train cars there that you can get on and explore. I was there about two hours.

“Good little museum”
Reviewed July 6, 2012

Hidden little gem downtown on the riverfront. Lots of artifacts from Atlantic Seaboard Line. Very nice scale model room with operating trains for the kids. Baldwin Locomotive outside along with a RFP boxcar and ASL caboose.

“History plus a must have photo opportunity”
Reviewed June 28, 2012

A great photo opportunity for your family and a must for children to experience a hands on inside a railroad car as well as their own kids area.
The museum has preserved some very interesting pieces of railroad history and of course children of every age will certainly enjoy the HO train displays.
They even have a great little gift shop for picking up that perfect train set for an early Christmas gift.
