We live on the river and absolutely love it. Cargo ships to and from the Port pass by daily; fishing off the pier and occasional dolphin sitings.

Restaurants, museums, and history line the road around the Cape Fear River. Old fashioned paddleboats take you back in time in this area. Beautiful place to spend the day.

Don't know what the say, don't fall in!!! You can take the water shuttle from downtown to the Battleship. It's fun.

River Walk in the historic district is a great way to see the Cape Fear up close. So are the riverside hotels and dining options. In addition to the Battleship NC, we saw kayaks, crew shells, jet skis, fishing boats, tour boats, and even a young alligator in his natural setting - all enjoying the river in the downtown area.

The Cape Fear River and the riverwalk is a nice place to take a stroll. There are some restaurants and cruises, and you can see all of the bridges. The water is also good for swimming.
