The Sweet Onion was recommended to us by a wise woman at the Asheville Visitors Center as we were headed out of Asheville on a very rainy day on our way to Bryson City to hike the Great Smoky Mountains. She said Waynesville would be a great place to visit (it was!) and to definitely eat at the Sweet Onion. Absolutely everything was delicious and the service was great. We went onto Bryson City and the next day, after hiking, we drove all the way back to the Sweet Onion for dinner. This is how much we liked it. We were treated to another excellent meal and service.

During busy times make reservations even for lunch. Food is always good. Even though they were busy, we were still served in a timely manner. Chicken fingers are fancy restaurant chicken. Really nice, hand breaded. Great sides. Lemongrass chicken salad was just okay. Nothing spectacular.

Overall a nice lunch with friends

We ate at The Sweet Onion this past Saturday night. We had a bit of a wait and saw many open tables, so I am not sure what that was about, but once we were seated our experience was nothing short of wonderful! We ordered a bottle of wine for the four of us and it was great and reasonably priced! Everyone's food was very good and the portions were so unbelievably huge! I live near Charleston SC and eat out quite a bit at the many fine restaurants located there and the food we had could easily rival the meals in Charleston! I ordered the Crispy Mozzarella and Tomato Salad and there was enough for two people. We all left full and I can't wait to visit again!
