I think this is one of the best restaurants in Waynesville. Chef uses local farmers / fresh products. Service is good. reservations suggested

Went early and were the only ones there which was great since we got to converse at leisure with our server, Macy, who was extremely friendly and efficient. I had the Louisiana Pasta which was FULL of sausage and crawfish tails. You can see the chef making your pasta fresh thru a kitchen window. It was delicious. My wife had a special which was crab stuffed sole with, I believe, coucous. She said it was one of the best meals she had ever had. Very small place so reservations are recommended. Go and see why it is rated number 1 in Waynesville.

We have been going to the Chef's Table for two years. This was the first time we had awful service. 28 minutes to have our order taken. 40 minutes to get bread, and that's only because we finally asked for it. 53 minutes until our first appetizers arrived. An hour an twenty minutes for the main course to arrive. The food was, as usual, terrific. But if there's one thing worse than bad food, it's bad service. The waitress seemed overwhelmed. On the other hand the waiter, who's been there for a while, was doing a good job in handling his tables.

Chef's Table is one of the sparkling food gems in a little Western Carolina town that is fast getting a reputation for good eating; fresh Italian made to order with a decent wine list. The restaurant is somewhat small, but the menu offerings are generous and inclusive for every taste. Pasta is made fresh in an open kitchen permitting a view to the process if one is sitting in the right location.
Food and service are consistently good. And on one recent visit, folks at a nearby table told us they and other friends from Sylva come to Waynesville frequently for the CT experience. That says it all. In fact, it is one of those restaurants we take our friends and family to on their first visit to Waynesville.
There's only one drawback. In a town which boasts a healthy tourist trade, it is rarely open on Sundays except at peak times of the year, much to the chagrin of the locals.

This has ALWAYS been our favorite "go to" restaurant. This last visit was a BIG disappointment. We both ordered off the four course $30.00 dinner menu thinking it was a pretty good deal. The soup starter was lobster bisque and it was outstanding. The dinner went rapidly down hill from there. The Caesar salad was very average. One of us had the ribeye steak and one of us had the grouper. The grouper wasn't undercooked and the steak was thin, full of grit, and pitiful. The "desert" was bread pudding...not edible. Overheard several orders for duck...hmmm, not on the menu. Didn't know of this and we've been going there since Josh opened the restaurant. Odd.

The wine was okay, slightly above our price point. Always crowded..maybe just need more kitchen help. Will try again before we find a new "go to" restaurant.
