“Beautiful Mountain Views”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

Our family drove to the Pisgah Inn Restaurant and enjoyed the winding roads and fabulous scenery to get there and back. The food was good and our experience with the waitstaff was excellent. We recommend this restaurant for a lovely time in the mountains. Be sure to wait for a table with the vista views.

“Dining among the "Clouds"”
Reviewed September 13, 2012

I recently lunched with friends at this moderately priced restaurant. It proved to be wonderful experience. It is however seasonal, open from April through November 3rd. Imagine when leaf season happens!
It was a beautiful clear day providing for spectacular mountain views and vistas. The restaurant has large windows, expanding your dining experience. From fresh mountain trout to homemade pot pie, there is more than just a few items to choose. Portions were plentiful.
Save room for dessert! The French Silk Pie was a heavenly delight.
Service was efficient and attentive to our needs. All of us left slightly euphoric, a combination of great food in a pleasant atmosphere.

“Good food, poor waitstaff”
Reviewed September 11, 2012

Maybe it is because we are late in the season and most of the experienced waitstaff has already left, but today it was as if the restaurant had hired most of its waitstaff from a homeless shelter, both in appearance and behavoir. Our waiter was extremely unfriendly and abrupt. He appeared to be dirty with no concern for his appearance or impression he was creating. Certainly not the image that the Pisgah Inn wants.

The food was fine, although over priced. The restaurant was crowded and noisy which is to be expected anytime you eat there.

“Good food, reasonable cost.”
Reviewed September 10, 2012

The food was excellent and reasonable in cost even though high on the Parkway, they sort of have the market cornered on restaurants/food for the traveling public. The menu has options for vegetarians and even low fat diets.

“Overrated”
Reviewed September 9, 2012

The Pisgah Inn has a reputation that it may have deserved years ago, and if you're going mainly for the view, by all means, go. Indeed, the view is wonderful, and the structure is very wood-and-glass lovely. The staff, too, is friendly. Now here's the issue. First: we were there early for lunch - no line, no frantic waiting - and yet we were rushed. Perhaps our waitperson had too many tables assigned - but we were asked three times for our order before we had even finished the menu, starter plates were removed so rapidly we had to flag that we weren't finished, the dessert menu arrived before one of us had finished half the meal, and the check arrived long before dessert was finished. Inexperienced? Over-eager? Rushed? Instructed to push guests along? I don't know. Second: the salad was fine, but the smoked brisket was dry and the mushroom gravy was bland and shiny. It looked well-congealed, and thus unappetizing, and the entire entree was barely lukewarm. Dessert was OK, but just that. Now, to their credit, both waitperson and manager offered to exchange our OK dishes for something more to our liking, but we weren't looking for a free meal, just wanted to give accurate feedback. Maybe we should have had the trout!
