“Great B&B!”
Reviewed December 16, 2008

This was the 2nd time that we have stayed at the WIndover Inn. We loved it just as much as the first time we stayed. It is about 30 minutes from Asheville, but it is definitely worth the drive. We plan on going back in the spring.

This was our second, but not last stay at the Windover Inn. This is a beautifully restored bed and breakfast. The rooms are nicely appointed and comfortable. The innkeepers are everything you hope for with a B&B. Very helpful and knowledgeable about the area. They can give good recommendations for restaurants and things to do in the area. The breakfast is great as well.

This is a great B&B - as a first time traveller to the US and having stayed in many B&B's in the UK, this was up there with the best of them. Great hosts, fantastic breakfasts, and beautiful surroundings - you couldn't ask for more. If I'm ever back in Waynesville, there's no question of staying anywhere else.

This B&B is everything you hope to find in an Inn. It is beautiful inside and out. The grounds are very lovely and included a gazebo with a swing, great firepit, beautiful front porch and beautiful gardens. We stayed in the Caribbean Room dowstairs and it was beautiful and quiet and very comfortable. The breakfasts were really gourment and delicious.... the french toast was great and the egg and rosemary frittata was to die for. We walked to historic downtown everyday and it was a pretty good uphill walk to get there , however, it was the perfect time of the year and the walk was great. I recommend the Sweet Onion restaurant for a great dinner.... wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere with great prices... and also... the Chef's Table for a romantic dinner... while the prices were a bit higher, the food was great and the atomosphere was very romantic and quaint... and everything was fresh there... we even watched our pasta noodles being made to order. I highly recommend this B&B to anyone wanting a great visit to Waynesville. The Innkeepers are wonderful and we can't wait to visit again. We have stayed at many B&Bs over the years, and this one has become our new favorite.

  • Liked — The beauty of the home and grounds... real care had been taken to make this nice

As a seasoned traveller having stayed in many guest houses this has to be the gem of them all.
The hosts are very helpfull and made us feel very welcome, I cannot recommend the the Windover enough.
The house is absolutely fabulous and a real treat in every way. Spotlessly clean and had a lovely feel about it. We stayed in the Windover on a two night break from Hiking the Smokies and had a great time.
If you want to stay in the area give it a go it will be a real treat and worth the money.

This was the first Bed and Breakfast I had ever been to and I have to leave a glowing review. The wrap around porch is a beautiful, peaceful place that is great for drinking coffee and reading or visiting. The grounds are not fancy, but there are places to go to swing in a hammock or sit out by the fire pit at night. The whole place is immaculately clean and great care is taken to preserve the historic aspects of the house (built in 1910.). One can tell the owners Glen and Jen have taken great pride in their place and are so accomodating. Breakfast is served at 9:00, but if you are up early (7:00) you will find organic coffee and tea ready for you to drink on your floor right outside your door. I liked the use of the small refridgerator outside the room for us to put our sandwiches in for our next day's travels. Breakfast was unbelieveably fantastic: gourmet-delicious buttermilk quiche with homemade hash brown potatoes, organic vanilla yogurt with local raspberry jam swirl and a homemade chocolate muffin to die for. I could go on, but think service is similar to The Four Seasons/The Ritz, but on a "homier" level. The owners can recommend places to eat/visit/shop and have maps and menus to look over before you leave the house. Nice touches like homemade foccacia, cheese and juice spritzer in the afternoon and homemade chocolate chip cookies to tempt you all add to the experience of being well-taken care of. I can't wait to go back!

  • Liked — The personal attention/service and food (for breakfast we served with real china, crystal and silverware.
  • Disliked — The view,no mountain view from the porch or bedroom windows, just a surrounding neighborhood.

We stayed at this B&B after reading reviews on Trip Advisor so I wanted to write in and share our experience at the Windover Inn.

The owners are really sweet and our room (The pacific suite) was very nice. The whirlpool jet tub in the room constantly drains so we only used that one night, but otherwise everything was great. Breakfast was good and the cookies were delicious as well.

This all being said, its a nice B/B but I would recommend that you also look into the Yellow House Inn which is a few miles away from there and has much more luxurious accommodations. This is not to say that Windover is bad, its nice [and CHEAPER than the Yellow House Inn] but t next time we will likely stay at the Yellow house Inn.
