“Pisgah Inn proves themselves again--One of the best getaways around!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 29, 2012

We stayed at the Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway in late March 2012. In fact, it was so early in the season that it was only their second night open for the season. We've stayed here before, and have always been satisfied, and this time was no different. In fact, I think the Pisgah is getting better! Our upstairs King room had been re-furnished, repainted, and wonderful new porch railings installed (The old railings seemed to cut right across your view when sitting in the comfy rockers. The new railings are cabled, and much less intrusive.) We had a fantastic dinner at the restaurant, and were pleasantly surprised to find that breakfast is now included in the price of the stay. And not just any old "Continental" breakfast, but a full, hot, made-to-order breakfast! The view from any room at the inn is no less than spectacular, and there are plenty of opportunities for hikes, bike rides and exploring nearby. We will continue to come back to the Pisgah Inn!

Room Tip: We had room 233--last upstairs room in the last building. It was great!!

We stayed here in late September of 2011 and it was wonderful! I'm a native of NC and had driven by the Pisgah Inn innumerable times and never stayed there until now. Unfortunately, I had laryngitis and could not sleep, despite the fact the room was wonderful and the bed very comfortable. However, as a result of sleeplessness, my husband and I stayed awake for much of the night, sat on the balcony and saw falling stars, a meteorite and a wonderful sunrise! Who says there's no silver lining to adversity! The restaurant and the food were very good. We were waited on quickly and the portions and quality were great. Just a word for those who found the rooms less that adequate - the Pisgah Inn is a seasonal operation and is located in the windiest and coldest part of the Parkway. As a result, most hotels located at this elevation do suffer some physical damage over the winter season and keep them up to, say, Hilton quality is just not an option for the operators. But where else could you find these wonderful views. We will definitely be back.

If you have read the reviews, you already know Mt. Pisgah has a great (and it truly is) restaurant and beautiful views. They are outstandingly beautiful but I and my husband go for the nights. Sitting on the balcony at night, you can see the lights of the towns in the valley.Places you can't even see during the day appear magically in the night. And visitors like the deer, scamper below your balcony or just outside your door.It can be a very relaxing experienceif.Just pull up a rockiing chair, look and listen to the night.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the valley and at the far end, away from the restaurant.

Yes, SEVENTEEN of us had a wonderful birthday dinner at the restaurant at the Inn on Oct. 22nd. It was crowded but that was to be expected, given that this was a peak fall leaf weekend. The staff were swamped but they managed to serve us in about 30 minutes - an amazing feat considering the size of our party. The food was excellent! There was just one problem: the pumpkin soup. I ordered it along with my pork chop, and to put it simply - the soup was TOO GOOD! I "complained" to our waitress about it and she said "yeah, we (the staff) put whipped cream on it when we eat it!" I told her that it was cruel to say that when I was obviously showing withdrawal symptoms - and in a few minutes she returned with another bowl, topped with whipped cream, on the house! (Note to the Restaurant Manager: please don't hold that against our waitress - I can assure you that we'll be back for more of that kind of great food and top-notch service).

Now a few weeks have gone by and I can't get that soup off of my mind! (Additional Note to the Restaurant Manager: would you consider sharing your pumpkin soup recipe, or at least your ingredient list? We want to serve it at fall gatherings and Thanksgiving dinner.)

We will definitely be back. Thanks for an amazing meal and a wonderful evening.

This was our second visit to the Pisgah Inn. The rates were a bit higher than last time (4-5 years ago?), but a few years have gone by, and I read that the furnishings were new this year. Also, breakfast was included this time which was different from the last stay.

It's a great place, terrific views, very quiet, comfortable beds. While you are captive here (far from alternatives), they don't appear to take advantage of that. It is good value. Sit on the porch and enjoy the outstanding scenery.

We'll stay here again if travels warrant.

Have been going for 30 yrs. Go for the location, proximity to good hiking, 5000' elevation (cooler), view. Room is very basic, in fact I would not rent a room any where else like this. It is what it is, and in spite of it, we will be back again. It is just wonderful seeing the high country sunrise, sunset. Restaurant is even better then before. Horrible wind noise this time through the door, but staff accommodated with towels to stick under door. I always enjoy a early morning hike from lodge up mountain towards trailhead for Pisgah. If you don't stay definitely come to the restaurant and enjoy the experience. Also this time took 6-8 weeks to get a mid Oct cancellation - we were lucky.

Room Tip: upstairs often quieter

We stay here every year. The room is clean but rather basic. The view is the best; it is all about the view. Each room has a spectacular view from the balcony where there are rockers. The on site restaurant is excellent. We are always pleased with the quality of the food.
