“In the Clouds”
Reviewed August 30, 2011

We recently spent a night in one of our favorite locations on the Blue RIdge Parkway. The Pisgah Inn is quite literally in the clouds, at 5,000 feet. Every room has a mountain view. The facilities are clean and well kept by the park service. The restaurant is excellent (I'd recommend the fried chicken). There is a wonderful gift shop on the premises as well. There are several trails of varying degrees of difficulty near by. Other nearby attractions include the Biltmore Estate, which originally owned Mount Pisgah; Mount Mitchell which is the highest point east of the Mississippi and Crabtree Falls.

I would note that the rooms are not air conditioned, but this is rarely a problem since the nights tend to be cool even in the summer. The Inn is open from the end of March through the end of October. Reservations are strongly recommended. A very nice choice of breakfast options are included in the price of the room.

Room Tip: I'd highly recommend the second floor of the building which houses the office. It has a great vi...

This is an awesome place to stay when riding your motorcycle on the beautiful blue ride parkway. It was clean, comfortable, great views, and great service. I will be back!

We stayed here during the changing of the leafs, it is a nice clean place with a great view
from each room. The food in the restaurant is upscale and very enjoyable, the view out
over the mountains is incredible. Located right on the Blue Ridge Parkway is close to Ashville and other attractions in the Smokies

My wife and I have spent 3 anniversaries here. It is a beautiful location and the food at the restaurant which overlooks the most beautiful mountaintop vista, is first rate. We visit in June and there is a lovely bed of pink ladies slippers just up the path from the hotel. The room is comfortable and every one has a balcony overlooking the Blue Ridge. Book early, especially for leaf season. Closed winters. Spring, Summer or Fall, it is a beautiful place to stay and you can pop down, in 45 min., to Asheville, to several artist communities in the area and, of course, the Blue Ridge itself.

Room Tip: Call early.

Needed to get away from the heat in the lower part of North Carolina. So I headed up to the mountains for a few days. Enjoyed sitting out on the porch and rocking, reading and watching the clouds come and go. The restaurant has great views and good food. You can just hang out and not have to drive anywhere if you don't want to.

Room Tip: Get a room on the 2nd floor great views.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is breathtaking. Pisgah Inn is rustic but OK for a night or two. The restaurant is another matter. The food is awful. There is definitely no 'chef' at this restaurant, but a short order cook! Aside from the restaurant, we admired the beauty of the area. It is well worth a visit.

We had our wedding here last year, and after practically battling it out with the hotel staff and management (i.e. Rob Miller - the rudest, most uncaring general manager you'll meet in the hotel industry), they all but ruined one of the biggest days of our lives! The restaurant manager, Barbara, was amazing and (once she found out there was a wedding there) was extremely helpful with all of the details and receptions we held there. I have no qualms with the restaurant. My deal here is with the hotel staff. They were told there was a wedding there months in advance (we even booked the "Rhododendron Room"). One month before the event, they had NO record of a wedding going on. We had booked 10 rooms to hold for the wedding party and family, however, they made us put the first night for all 10 rooms on a credit card, which was fine, but when the family arrived, they would not take the first night off the one credit card and bill the entire stay to each of our credit cards. So basically, we had to pay for all of the rooms on that ONE CARD we held the rooms on. What sense does that make when our guests and family were coming from all over the world to stay here? We had brought our own luxury pillows and forgot them upon check out, we came back 15 minutes later and they were STOLEN by the housekeeping staff. We tried to give the Inn a 2nd chance this year, and once again they SCREWED up. We booked four days/three nights over the phone to try to get the same room we had during our wedding, the girl on the phone made the reservation and we didn't think twice about it. After coming back from breakfast, they all but jumped us to go in to talk to the office, where they told us we were supposed to check out that morning (a day before we were supposed to), stating the reservation was made for Thurs-Sat, not Thurs-Sunday like we had stated. The room was taken and we couldn't stay the night because they were full. Who screws up a reservation? the Pisgah Inn, that's who. More of same. We will never stay here again, not only did they ruin our wedding, but our 1 year anniversary as well. Thanks for nothing, glad we saved ourselves the $140 for the last night, you don't deserve it. Keep your money, eat there, and stay somewhere else. Just horrible. I could go on about the actual rooms/restaurant/views, but the previous reviewers have said it already.

Room Tip: Don't stay here (or else book online).

When a reservation is made with our hotel we send e-mail or snail mail confirmations to all our guest. This is sent in case we have made a mistake with a reservation or in case a mistake is made by a guest using our online system. This means of checks and balances has saved us and our guest many times from mistakes we have made and mistakes on their part. When a guest checks in to the hotel we again confirm "I see you have this number of people and are staying this number of nights". We do this with the guest in front of us and then ask again that they check the reservation to make sure everything is in order before they sign the registration card. This process lets us know again if anything is wrong with a reservation, or if the guest would like to shorten or lengthen their stay.
Mistakes can and will always happen. We are people and not perfect by any means but we have tried to implement safeguards for our guest. When all parties work together these safeguards work very well.
