Description: Welcome to The Swag! This intimate hideaway is nestled among eighteen peaks over 6,000 feet and this extraordinary log and stone lodge is a treasure to be discovered by today's lovers of nature. The old split rail fence marking the boundary of Great Smoky Mountain National Park is a few yards from the Swag Lodge entrance, and well marked hiking trails abound both in the Park and throughout the two hundred fifty acre property of our award-winning Inn. Our own trails are complemented by the national park's vast network of hiking trails carefully mapped to scale and available for all guests and especially enjoyed by the wilderness novice. For over thirty years we have developed and enhanced our fourteen romantic guest rooms with wood-burning fire places, steam showers, balconies, patchwork quilts, and "Ritzy Rustic" amenities galore. Very special dining is a proud tradition at the Swag beginning with hors d'oeuvres at 6 p.m. each evening and leading up to our chef's four-course dinner at 7 p.m. Exceptional country breakfasts and delectable back-pack lunches add to the day's leisure nature walk or the more ambitious high country exploring. Join us for one of our gourmet picnics each Wednesday at noon on our Gooseberry Knob, or savor our Thursday evening barbeque cookout! Expansive beams, 200 year-old hand-hewn logs and native Appalachian crafts authenticate our desire to capture the romance and integrity of living graciously while authentically close to nature and all its wonder. Our seasonal inn operates from mid-April through November. Located near Waynesville, thirty miles west of Asheville, North Carolina.

My wife and I had our first visit last June to the Swag. We weren't sure what to expect...but we were extremely pleased at the end! First, the grounds are simply amazing. Beautiful views everywhere you look...and, great hiking trails on the property. There are plenty of 'hideaways' hidden off the trails. A very nice touch, a hint of privacy my wife and I both enjoyed. The property also borders the National Park with endless miles of trails. There is no shortage of hiking options, if that's what you are into.

The food is simply amazing! We enjoyed the appetizers in the breezeway chatting away with fellow guests, and the entrees were fantastic. My wife and I also enjoyed the packed lunch while we were hiking. The Sunday brunch is NOT to be missed. The spread is quite impressive!

Our room, Laurin's Room, was small but very cozy...just perfect for our getaway. It's located within the main lodge next to the gift shop, but it was perfect. In fact, we've already booked the same room for more nights this Spring.

No detail goes untouched at the Swag. It's our favorite getaway from the kids, and we'll go year after year. While the cost may seem a bit high, it's worth it...you don't want to pass it up!

Beautiful bed and breakfast in the mountains of western NC! Accommodations and food are outstanding! The hosts are so friendly and gracious, they make you feel right at home. Celebrated 3 birthdays here and would like to come back every year! If you love to hike, or just lay in a hammock and take in the amazing scenery, this is the perfect place!

My brother has been here over twenty times, and finally decided it was time to take his little brother. We have roots in North Carolina, and I know now why he keep this place his secret. We stayed in the two-story cabin, which was very spacious and rustic, but you got the feel of luxury all around you. The food was expertly prepared by trained chefs, and there was almost one server or employee for everyone that was staying there. It is worth every penny once you see the spectacular view from atop Deener's mountain. She and her gracious husband were outstanding innkeepers, and I hope my brother invites me again.
