“Good greek food”
Reviewed December 28, 2013

Intersting combo between a steakhouse and a greek restaurant. But both steak items and greek food were good. Good choice of draft beers.

“Outstanding”

Excellent food and service. Blackened rib eye was tender and delicious. Pleasant location. River view is great and the old building is charming.

“So much potential but....”
Reviewed December 7, 2013

Apollo's has so much potential, but definitely needs some work.
Our server was a bit inexperienced. She served merlot from the bottom of the bottle, and with the bubbling and watery fore-taste, it was easy to tell the bottle was not properly stored. Easy fix, just needs a bit of care. The server offered to replace the glass, which I appreciated. However, as I watched her open the new bottle, I noticed her violently twisting the cork inside the neck of the bottle, which is a sure fire way to leave residue. Again, this is a quick fix with just a little training of how to appropriately open, serve, and store bottled wine.
The "L" in the word "salmon" is silent. Once of the first things I learned as a server was to make sure that you are able to pronounce menu items and drinks accurately. Writing the word "sweet" in sharpie on the outside of the pitcher is amateurish. If your not sure, use a separate color of pitcher or wrap the handle with linen.
T-bone was ordered medium-rare, was delivered a little more than medium and doused in salt. This tells me either the temp was never right, or the steak sat too long on the expeditor table allowing an over-cook. Filet was inconsistent; flat oval instead of kidney or round; ordered rare, delivered mid-rare. May have been better with a butterfly. Salmon was under-seasoned and covered in parsley. Hummus was not fresh; either canned or out of a tub.
We were the only ones in the restaurant and the chef (or one of the cooks) came out and sat down at the bar. I appreciate everyone's need for a break, but if you are going to sit at the bar for an extended period of time or unless you are visiting customers, remove your chef's jacket.
Overall, the food was not "terrible", but not a great return on the cost investment. Again, I think that there is a bit of tweaking that needs to occur; If they could spend a bit more time and care, I sincerely think they could have a hit on their hands. Upscale price should equal a consistent upscale experience.

“Not worth the Smell”
Reviewed October 31, 2013

This place just opened late summer 2013, so I think most of these reviews were for the former restaurant at the same location. Honestly the food wasn't that great, but what is worse is this awful smell in the place - stinch! The bar area is okay and it's a central location across from the waterfront.

“TOP CHOICE!”
Reviewed October 24, 2013

WOW! We chose this restaurant one night mainly for the amazing view and we had heard some great things about it. We had 4 people in our party, and we all got steaks, (different cuts and sizes) and they all came out PERFECTLY cooked the way we wanted and were absolutely delicious! (AND at the exact same time) Sides were amazing too!! The entire experience was A++!! I would highly recommend you try out this great spot overlooking the beautiful Pamlico. This place would be perfect for couples, family, friends, or business!!
