“WOW what a beautiful home, and Marilyn is a hoot!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 4, 2012

My hubby and I arrived this past weekend for a 7 course pairing beer dinner with friends and the home was so beautifully decorated for Christmas. We stayed in the Whimsy room, at the end of the hall and loved the seclusion. Very quiet, a oil space heater was nice to cut the chill of the fall weather. Dinner with friends went off without a hitch. Marilyn delivered a tea pot and coffee to our room in the morning. Marilyn told us to take our time coming down for breakfast, she would serve anytime from 5am to 1pm. ;+) So we went down around 9am, 4 different kinds of juice, blueberry coconut muffins, creme fraiche' and yogurt with fresh fruit and walnuts, a egg souffle filled with delicious veggies and a wedge of melon. We fell in love with this place and will return soon. Also come early, and take a walk into the small town. We ate at the Southside Cafe and shared the grouper sandwich, the piece was the size of our head. And about a pound of fries. So So good!! We will return and recommend this place to any and all. ;+)

The historical Inn is filled with fun and magic throughout. The food is fabulous and service was excellent as Marilyn personally provides a caring and pleasant experience. The eye is always engaged in finding beautiful pieces of art and decor. Her display of personally created, artistic quilts is amazing and fills the historical home with a feeling of the past, and at the same time the heart and mind of the present. Awesome!

The Melrose Inn is fantastic! I recently had the pleasure of staying here while visiting Biltmore Estate. Marilyn is an excellent hostess. Her food is incredible and her hospitality is top notch!! In my opinion, if you are searching for lodging in the area, The Melrose Inn is the best place and only place to stay!

My family and our new puppy stayed for three days and loved it. Marilyn and Jim treated the whole family as if they new us forever and made us feel very welcomed. After driving 12 hours Jim greeted us at the front door to carry our bags to the room and offered cold drinks. We stayed in Angels Abound and Whimsy. The rooms were clean with very comfortable beds. Every morning our favorite drink of choice was waiting outside our room until we got ready to go down stairs for breakfast. The breakfast was outstanding,Marilyn even brought a special plate out for the dog. She's spoiled now! One morning Marilyn invited my sister and her husband to join us for breakfast, they were impressed with the quality of food and service. We had dinner one night and invited my family that lived in the area, all of us loved the food and great service. After dinner took a walk around the area, what a nice town. It was great to have a place to take the dog for a walk right across the street. Definitely would love to visit again.

Room Tip: Angels Abound didn't have many electrical outlets available. With two females getting ready at th...

I've stayed at Marilyn's Melrose Inn several times over the past year and have always found the staff to be courteous and helpful. Marilyn and Jim are the perfect hosts and make all feel welcome and wanted.

A chilled glass of wine or choice of dark or light lager beer will be offered on the porch upon arrival. Stimulating conversations follow with fellow travelers and local residents alike. (Tuesday evenings are special on the porch with local musician Brown Anderson playing and singing his original charming songs.)

Eight guest rooms from the King Equestrian to the exotic Jungle are a delight in theme decoration and offer a comfortable nights sleep.

Awake early to hot coffee just outside your door and have breakfast in the lovely dining room. Be expected to be surprised by the flavors of hot muffins and selected fruits that accompany the gourmet breakfast.

I’m looking forward to spending many more visits to Tryon and stayting at the Melrose Inn..

My husband and I are seasonal residents of Tryon NC. Our favorite place to dine is Marilyn's Melrose Inn. We've enjoyed groumet meals for Thanksgiving, Mother's Day, Father's Day, and almost all other holidays we're in town. The hospitality and atmosphere is outstanding. During the summer, we enjoy the Tuesday on the porch BBQ's. The Inn provides 3 sides, cooking our meat, entertainment and socializing with old and new frieinds. There is no charge for this incredible evening. She also has a monthly "Friends of the Chef" night, where a gourmet dinner is served in the romantic dining room. We highly recomment the Inn for eating, We have not have the need for the B & B, for an overnight stay. If you want to be treated special, give the Inn a try.

My husband and I spent 4 nights at the Melrose Inn and had a wonderful time. The food and drinks were great, the porch was a terrific place to spend time and we enjoyed the music on the porch on Tuesday evening. Marilyn and Jim treated us as if we were family and included us in thier activities. The town and surrounding areas were enjoyable, including Pierson Falls and antiquing among other activities. I am sure we will return for more relaxation and next time we hope to take advantage of the supper club.

If you haven't been to the Melrose Inn for a long while, we recomend returning and seeing how much Marilyn has brought it back to its former glory.
