I've grown up eating at Gatti's pizza buffet in Thomasville but haven't eaten there for many years. So when I heard they had changed ownership and remodeled I wanted to try it out again.
The restaurant itself has received a complete overhaul. Brand new floors, brand new paint and wall art, nice new flat screen TVs. They even took out the slightly raised section and made it a separate room with it's own TV, which is nice when you don't want to sit in the main part. In addition, the buffet, which was formally only available at certain times of the day, is now available from open to close!
As far as the food goes, the pasta is pretty good. The pizza can be hit or miss, but for the price you pay it completely blows the slop they serve at Cici's out of the water. And if you happen to visit at non-peak time (between 2pm and 5pm) the cashier will usually ask you what kind of pizza you would like. They make it fresh right then and there which is when this pizza is at it's best (better than some delivery chains even). There are a very wide variety of toppings, including BBQ chicken and cheeseburger-style pizzas. Try them before you pass on them - you might end up being pleasantly surprised.
The dessert pizza is also excellent but best when fresh.
The biggest improvement food-wise is the salad bar, which has been completely revamped with the remodel. It's not going to compare selection-wise to, say, Golden Corral, but for that all inclusive price you pay it's pretty darn excellent.
My only real complaint is that the size of the restaurant is a little on the small side. During periods of highest traffic on Friday and Saturday evenings you may end up waiting to find seating. However, that's also usually when they're constantly cooking pizza so it's usually worth the wait.
I can't recommend this place highly enough for families or for people that just looking for decent quality buffet pizza and an affordable price.
