I recently worked for Southern Sisters in Thomasville. It is a new restaurant. Very poorly run and operated. All of the claims on this page are true. The food on the menu is not served as stated on the menu. The owner, ***, changes the menu as she pleases last minute and does not tell the staff. We often believed that the motto there was "This is ***'s world, and we just live in it!" Then the kitchen does not communicate changes to the servers. Hence, the servers can not communicate to the customers. Many times I served the same meal that was differently prepared for different people, however ordered identically.

The kitchen does not use gloves when preparing food and one cook has never been seen to wash their hands. Foods are left out for an entire shift that should be refrigerated such as dairy and egg based products. This could be anywhere from 4 to 7 hours a day. I would not eat a salad from the restaurant either. Servers are made to make their own salads and do not use gloves. Many times one will prepare a salad immediately after cleaning off or clearing a table.

Additionally, I have had a problem for the past 2 months getting a correct paycheck from the owners. They blame the problems on the company they use for payroll and when I called that company (ADP), I was told that anything wrong on the paychecks is from the information submitted to them by the owner. The paychecks are dated for a month in the future (12/02/12) and the owner is telling us that they are for a month in the past (September 2012). They state the incorrect amount of hours and claim I make more than I do in tips.

We have been wanting to try this restaurant for a few weeks and we were looking forward to a nice experience. However, it was not to be! Although we did not have a reservation, as we pulled up, the restaurant did not appear to be too busy, so we parked the car and entered.

Once entering the restaurant, we noticed that not only was there no one waiting in the foyer area, there was also no hostess. As we looked around we finally saw a young lady leaning against the bar speaking with someone. At last she turned and saw us and walked up front. To our dismay, the first words out of her mouth was that the restaurant was busy and it would be a while. She did not give us a time before we could be seated inside, but said that we could sit outside and eat. When we replied we did not want to sit outside, she actually turned and walked away !!

We have never been treated this rude at any restaurant and we eat out quite often. This is one place that we will never visit again!

The food at Thomasville's newest restaurant, and only gourmet eaterty, is excellent! The chicken pot pie with puff pastry was scrumptious. The chicken casserole and meatloaf looked equally pleasing to the palate. The homemade cheesecake with raspberry and chocolate drizzle would rival that which might be served at the finest restaurant. Prices are quite moderate - main dishes are around $10, and desserts are $5 each. The service was slow, but attentive. The acoustics are challenging - and could be baffled for less amplification in the dining area. All considered, we were quite impressed, and definitely will go again!

We are so excited to have Southern Sisters in Thomasville! The rennovation of the old building, the menu and location are all a wonderful addition! The food is wonderful. Everything we have tried has been quite tasty, from the Chicken Jezebel to the Shrimp and Grits. The flavors are good and the price points are very acceptable for a restaurant in Thomasville. Half-price wine on Wednesday is not a bad thing to experience either!
The biggest problem right now is the service. Staff are not properly trained. They do not know the menu items, they do not know how to properly serve a table and they certainly are not trained on the appropriate presentation of wine. Once the owners get a handle on this, they will be in business a very long time. Service issues aside, we will try it again and urge you when in Thomasville, to stop by and enjoy a tasty meal!
