“It was okay... didn't like the hours of operation”
Reviewed August 22, 2012

While on a long weekend vacation, we tried 3 times to get into The Daily Grind before we finally got a cup of coffee the last day.

They close kind of early -- 8:00 pm as I recall. For us, that's about the time we are out looking for a cup of coffee! (After dinner, after we've hit a few shops - before retiring to our motel for the evening).

Oh well... it just wasn't meant to be. Our local (central North Carolina) Starbucks all seem to be open until 11:00 pm.

We did think that we caught them open on a Sunday night - only to realize that we were trying to walk in to a private party of some kind. That was frustrating. And, we didn't get our coffee that night.

Finally, mid-morning as we were leaving town, we finally got in for a cup. It was okay. Just okay. The girl working the counter wasn't overly pleasant - especially when we informed her of our "quest" to buy from her.

So, I don't know what to say about this place... Average coffee at best. Idk if we'll try them the next time we are in town - there are other coffee shops in the area.

“Good coffee”

Good coffee. A bit slow but it is island time. You don't need to rush anyway. Very nice people and the service was great.

“my favorite!”
Reviewed August 16, 2012

The first time I went to this coffee shop was about 2 years ago, the very day I moved to Surf CIty. It was a long day of moving and unpacking and we needed some caffeine. I have been going back ever since. It is a wonderful family owned coffee shop. Very friendly employees and a nice sitting area to enjoy your coffee. Love it!

“Good coffee”
Reviewed August 9, 2012

I buy coffee fresh from a local roaster in Seattle. We have a Le Cimbali grinder and a Rancilio Epoca S Semi-Automatic Commercial coffee machine. That is to say, I appreciate good coffee. This coffee shop has very good coffee. The service is friendly, if a little slow. We found the Daily Grind the first morning on the island and have been back every morning since.

“Great people, even better coffee!!”
Reviewed August 3, 2012

We go here all the time and they know our order when we walk in the door! The coffee is better then star bucks and they have lots of specialty drinks. The owner is also very nice and family oriented.
