Imagine a beautiful ocean side restaurant, wind blowing, waves crashing along the beach. Got it in your head? Good, Crabby Mikes is the opposite.
There are two people on staff, a waitress and a cook, in a tiny windowless bunker along the main road on Top Sail Island. My first attempt to eat here led to me waiting to be seated for 10 minutes, to which I turned around and went to Buddy's across the street. I should have learned my lesson, but despite my best instincts, came back a day later.
The restaurant was not very crowded, but the over worked waitress had trouble keeping up (she did seem to try hard). After 45 minutes, the food came out. I would have had a hard time feeding it to a homeless person. The fries came out completely distorted. A color which is native only to the deepest, oldest bowels of the fryer. They were almost worst then fried cardboard, which I can only imagine tastes better. The Fish of the "fish and chips" was similar, if not identical, to the fish which comes in a child's microwave dinner. Disgusting.
To the restaurant's credit, the owner does seem to be a good marathon runner, and modest as well. If you buy a shirt, with cash, 100% of the proceeds will go to charity.
My advice, buy a shirt for cancer and get out. You can thank me later.
