Spectacular elevated view of the Cape Fear River, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, Bald Head Island, and Oak Island. Food is very good, though much of it is fried. (Yeah, I know "frying" is in the name, but the restaurant almost overlooks Frying Pan Shoals.) If you don't want fried there is usually a very good list of specials and the salads are excellent. Of late, they have a new pastry chef and the deserts are to die for. The bar experience looks upon a chefs kitchen.
This is slated to be a seasonal venue, there is a strong breeze across the (essentially) porch-like venue, There is no air conditioning (not really needed) and the dining area is spacious and eloquently rustic
It is the beach.... the seafood is EXCELLENT and if breaded, the breading doesn't detract from the food.
A stellar part of the experience is a well trained staff that works incredibly well as a team. This is a don't-miss venue if you are visiting the Southport/Oak Island area.
A note: if visiting by water, this restaurant is owned by the same folks that own the Provision Company Restaurant, which is next door. I believe you will be allowed to dock at Provision and walk across to Frying Pan. If in doubt ask the staff at Provision Company......
Again, a HIGHLY recommended dining experience.....
