Joseph's is very, very good. I got the shrimp and grits (actually polenta) and it was the best that I've had, bottom line - get it. I also had their mussels in saffron, also excellent. The family also enjoyed their meal. This place is not cheap, 3 dinners and 1 appetizer and 4 beers/1 coke with tip is over $100, and I liked our server so much I went with a 25% tip, so keep that in mind. However, if you are looking for very good italian in the area, this is a must stop. I've been there before, and I will go back.

Our party of four enjoyed a nice weekend dinner at Joseph's Italian Bistro. The location by the marina is wonderful and would be even more enjoyable in summer. The restaurant is beautifully decorated with an upscale feel. The wait staff were professional in appearance and and knew the menu, drinks, as well as the specials. We enjoyed the chicken parmagiana, chicken piccata, chicken marsala and the shrimp scampi.

*My tip to management would be to change the background music. IMHO It is too loud and the vocals of the Rat Pack selection interfere with an atmosphere that should encourage quiet conversation. In most upscale restaurants where people are looking to enjoy discussion or a couple is looking for romance, the music should not become a competitor. The volume should be lower and you might even consider the subtlety of some Italian Dinner Music that is instrumental only (solo piano or guitar).

The four of us were seated right away, without having reserved a table, on a busy Saturday night in late March. As it turned out, I wish they had turned us away.

We ordered two 12 oz rib eyes, medium-rare, one 8 oz filet, rare, and one clams and mussels with linguine and marinara. The filet was satisfactory while the other three dishes were not. One rib eye was closer to medium than to medium-rare and the other was gristly. The clams and mussels were served in their shells mixed with the pasta and sauce - how to eat this dish except to dig into the sauced pasta with fingers to remove the shellfish from their shells? Four empty shells and bits of broken shell were uncovered in the messy process.

One rib eye diner mildly commented on the excessive cartilage and was offered dessert on the house - a slice of key lime pie, which was satisfactory.

Four separate checks were provided (without asking?) whereupon we discovered the two rib eyes were priced differently, one at 25.95 and the other at 28.95. When we inquired about this, we were told the "girl" had made a mistake, "must have pressed the 5 instead of the 8." No offer to correct the mistake (provide both dishes at the lower price) was made.

In summary, this is not fine dining and, given the challenges of cooking and serving, a large number of waiters dressed in black carrying cheese graters and pepper grinders will not make it so. We will not return.

This Off the Beaten Path place is pretty good. Nice decor, nice large picture of the Rat Pack and good Rat Pack music. The food was good, nice waitress, and decent desert selection. I would only do this place once a year because of the price but an anniversary dinner here was different.

They do have WiFi in case you need it during dinner.

Inside, decor is not thrilling, space is tight; get a table out on the deck for a lovely sunset view of the marina. Their idea of Italian background music was Frank Sinatra - given the prevailing demographic, not too surprising. The most Italian thing about the food seemed to be that most dishes were served with linguine. Having said that, the salad was very good, the salmon with crab flavored hollandaise and risotto were very, very good. My dining partner liked his sea bass very much. The waiter was very efficient, kept an eye on us, not too intrusive. They don't take reservations so don't plan to drop in without a plan B, or go later. Two specials and two glasses of wine $98. Return...maybe.
