After recently moving to Southport, we finally got to Ports of Call. What a great experience. We arrived early to have a drink at the bar. The bartender was very friendly and had several special drinks. Dinner was delicious. We decided to do all tapas and tried a few. The seafood blt was the favorite. The mussels and oysters were excellent also. Our waiter was very helpful with our dinner selections. The atmosphere and the people were very welcoming. Can't wait to return.

Three of us split 4 large sized tapas which included shrimp diablo, mussels in a mushroom cream sauce, bruschetta and a crab BLT concoction. All of the food was delicious and the ample bread basket was much appreciated in soaking up the delicious sauces from the shrimp and mussels. The hostess was very friendly and accommodating and our server was very good. We liked the vibe of the restaurant which was a nice change from the typical beach/fried food place. I also noticed that there were a lot of 30 somethings at the bar and dining which is a sign to me of an eclectic and fresh/local menu. We look forward to dining there again.

We go to Southport to visit family on a regular basis and have wanted to try Ports of Call for some time. Overall I'd say the atmosphere was great, the food was good, but it is overpriced for this market and the service was lacking. Our server seemed overwhelmed through much of our meal. She forgot to mention some of the specials, for example. My 80 year old mother-in-law was with us and she has a fairly restricted diet. After much discussion, she decided on the chicken marsala, which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. My husband had a lengthy conversation with our server about how the green beans were prepared to make sure his mom could eat them. When dinner arrived, it came with broccolini instead of green beans. When my husband called this to our server's attention, she said no, the dish came with broccolini, even though the menu clearly said green beans and they had already had that long discussion about it. He didn't argue with her but my mother-in-law couldn't eat the other vegetable. When the bill came, we weren't given the itemized receipt that is typically given. These things, combined with the fact that the food was good but not great, mean we probably won't be going back.

Recent visit to Oak Island with my family. We had made advanced reservations for Easter Brunch and we LOVED the food, service and atmosphere. This is a MUST if you are in SouthPort.
