We went to this restaurant based on the reviews and were amazed that Southport has such an amazing chef cooking such great quality food at such a value to the customer. The fried chicken was the best we've ever eaten and the crab cake burger was full of crab and served on a delicious bun. Our children were thrilled that the menu included fried chicken tenders and were obviously hand battered and very generous in size. It's worth ordering the homemade chips, or paying a little extra for the sweet potato fries as the regular fries are store bought frozen ones. As a testament to how great the restaurant was, we came back yesterday, driving in from Myrtle Beach on our last day of vacation! This time I ordered one of the specials-Bleu Cheese burger made with Angus beef. It was cooked to order, the bleu cheese crumbles were generous, and the pretzel roll was surprisingly good. My husband didn't stray from his fried chicken dinner. Save room for dessert-they vary, but the coconut cake was moist and worth every fat gram :) We also loved how Chef Karen was so friendly and welcoming to her guests (along with the rest of the staff). The atmosphere is casual, and there is no view. The food, hospitality, and price make this a "must" anytime you're in an hour radius of Southport!

Worst breakfast experience ever! Waited 10 minutes to order pancakes, ok they were busy. Watched the couple next to us order at the same time, get their food, eat their meal, and pay for it, still waiting for our pancakes. Our waitress actually turned to us while handing them their check and asked if we had already eaten. Not a good sign. Next up was the other couple near us who ordered 10 minutes after we did getting their food; that was the last straw. This was at 45 minutes. Went in to ask about our food, told "Food will be right out". 5 minutes later still no sign of our food. Went back in to pay for our drinks and get out, no apology, explanation, or even an acknowledgement from our waitress. I see from other reviews that the food is good. Certainly cannot be worth over a 45 minute wait for pancakes while all others are getting fed. NEVER AGAIN!!!

This restaurant has wonderful food for the right price. The daily menu will vary. Hamburgers are large enough for two people. Salads and salad dressing are all home made. You can buy dressing to take home. It is delicious. Small but you can usually get seated without a long wait. love it

Really a nice place. Comfortable and super good food. The people who own and run it are wonderful! So nice. From the burgers to the breakfasts to the salads, etc. it is very tasty. And...they have this strawberry lemonade no one should miss. It's so delicious. Even the bathroom is nice with special soaps and hand lotions. Very nice tough.

Excellent fare, reasonably priced. The owners rub shoulders with the Food Network crowd as is reasonable, in that there food is on par with recipes and presentation shown on that network. They are often crowded, which a testament to the fare. Breakfasts are hearty. This is another "don't miss" opportunity in Southport.
