“Not worth it”
Reviewed July 9, 2013

I brought my daughter here during the week for lunch to celebrate her birthday. We waited maybe 10 minutes at the door in the front room and didn't see any worker except the kitchen staff coming through the back door. We were finally asked to come back and then were left at the opening to the back room while the hostess/ server bussed and cleaned our table. It was about another ten minutes before another person asked for our drink order. Five minutes later another person delivered it, fifteen minutes later another person came for our food order. We were each given a complimentary soup. I have no idea what kind of soup it was, we weren't told and I've had it before, but it seemed to be a salty beef broth with something stringy (possibly raw egg?), some vegetables and corn starch - neither one of us ate much of it. We ordered sweet tea, chicken pad thai, and beef and broccoli. The tea nearly lifted me out of my seat it was so sweet, the pad thai was tasty but less than strip mall quality, and the beef and broccoli was quite tough. The portions seemed small for the price, the service was sketchy, and the atmosphere was aged (decorated with grandparents garage sale furniture) and somewhat bizarre. It does not give the impression of "clean". Thai By the Sea in Oak Island is FAR superior to this place. Will not be returning.

“One crazy dining experience!”
Reviewed May 28, 2013

We stopped in as a break from all the seafood we'd been eating. We thought the joint was empty since we were seated in the front room, but apparently this is a hot-spot for locals. We thought the service was poor and the food was just okay. It was one bizarre eating experience! Stick with the restaurants on the water! They're ranked high for a reason!

“Good food, spotty service”
Reviewed May 25, 2013

My wife and I really enjoy Thai food and Thai Peppers does deliver with their menu. The crab ragoon was creamy and tasty. Carol had soup and Pad Thai while I had a ginger curry with pork. We sat outside and enjoyed the warm weather and watched people go by. Thai Peppers is located in the heart of Southport. Recommended but the service was slow to say the least.

“Inexpensive sushi”
Reviewed April 14, 2013

We stopped for a sushi lunch and shared a standard plate of 20 pieces of sushi roll: 5 each of spicy tuna roll; spicy shrimp roll; California roll and one other that escapes me at present ... all for $8.95 including one bowl of miso soup that we shared. The sushi was very fresh and well prepared.

“Unexpectedly good!”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Had lunch spontaneously whilst shopping in the neighbourhood and had very good meals. The service was prompt, helpful and courteous. The ingredients were fresh and the Thai seasonings were handled perfectly; the menu was creative, and husband reported that the beer was good. The restaurant furnishings are a tad dated, but the room is spacious and the chairs solid and comforable...easy space to navigate for big people and those with disabilities. Would definitely go back next time hankering asian food.
