Ourselves and two other couples had another outstanding stay at the Jefferson Inn. The little Victorian Inn in the heart of Southern Pines feels like home because of the friendlyness of the staff Curtis the owner who is always on site. The nicely appointed rooms, very comfortable beds and the sound of the train whistles in the night are delightful. If you are planning a golf trip to this area check out the Jefferson as a place to stay while playing some of the "other" good courses in the area. Southern Pines Golf Club less than two miles away is a hidden gem.

the rooms and new renovations looked great. the food was pretty good, but there are better places around town to eat. the owner is ridiculous with his hummer parked on the curb right out front!

I was not expecting anything so.... luxurious. Not that I'm a hotel snob at all, so perhaps this wouldn't meet others desciptions, but I thought it was phenomenal. The bedding was like a cloud, the decor was just beautiful, I love the dark wood set against the clean bright sheets. We were in a room with double beds and would have preferred just a king (or queen really, kings are just so large...), so they offered to move us the next day when one was available, but it seemed to be such a waste of linen since the room was perfect otherwise.
Had drinks one night in the bar downstairs... lots of people rolled through for the live music- enjoyed the ambiance. Great location too, walkable to the cute Southern Pines shops.

We stayed at the Jefferson Inn for the "Blues Crawl". It was in walking distance to the Sunrise Theatre, many cool little boutiques and shops, a wine store, coffee shops, cafes, etc. We stayed in the jr. suite which was beautiful. Two large columns separated the king size bed from the living area....nice sofa, coffee table and 42" flat screen TV (perfect view from bed also). The bathroom was beautiful.... pedestal sink with nice mirror above.... also hand mirror and wall mirror. Very large tile bathtub with shower and rain shower. Great view to courtyard below. There is a tavern/bar area inside with tables....and also tables in the courtyard. We ate dinner in the restaurant... it was fabulous! Great food..... don't miss the she-crab soup, lots of crab-meat! We met the owner and he was extremely friendly as were all of the staff. Very light continental breakfast served in the morning. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I live in Durham, NC (about an hour from Southern Pines). Whether we are in Southern Pines for a day of golfing, or feel we just need a 'romantic getaway', we always stay at the Jefferson Inn!
The rooms are clean, the bathrooms beautiful, and the bed/linens are plush and luxurious! In the colder months, we enjoy cocktails and appetizers in the smoke-free bar (which has been renovated, preserving the 100+ year old mahogany wood... BEAUTIFUL!). They also have a dining room for dinner. In the warmer months, there is an outside courtyard, where you may dine or just enjoy cocktails and appetizers. Weekends bring live music to the courtyard, with some very talented local musicians!
The Jefferson offers a diverse menu, with excellent flavor... from pasta and seafood to steaks and chops, you can't go wrong! (a personal favorite is the She-Crab soup, with generous lumps of crab meat!)
The staff has always been extremely friendly and courteous... Southern hospitality and charm are alive and well at the Jefferson!

My husband and I stayed at the Jefferson on a Saturday night for our anniversary. The room was ready early, it was very clean, and the beds are very comfy. We had a late meal in the restaurant on-site. It was good, except for the bug that scurried off of my salad plate. We spent a lot of time at the courtyard before dinner. It was fabulous and crowded quickly. Once we got back to our room we discovered that it overlooked the courtyard.......not exactly the privacy we were looking for on our anniversary. There was a band playing right outside of our room until 2 AM! After that wrapped up, the (very loud and drunk) crowd lingered, then we heard the staff cleaning up....which was basically beer bottles being thrown into the trash cans and smashing. Over and over again! This lasted until 3:30. At a rate of $200 for the night!
The Jefferson is great for a night out, and probably for a stay, but just not when the weather is nice on a weekend when a band is playing.
