“A walk through the Sandhills Nature Perserve”
Review of Weymouth Woods

Weymouth Woods
Reviewed May 31, 2014

Located less than an hour from Fayetteville and Raleigh NC, Weymouth Woods is a quiet oasis from either concrete jungle. The half dozen walking trails are family friendly (but not wheelchair friendly) and well marked. There are signs on each path pointing out wildlife who make this forest their homes.
This 930 acre preserve of longleaf pine boasts of having the oldest known living longleaf pines that is estimated to be 467 years old and the endangered red cockaded woodpeckers.
Before hiking, you may want to stop at the visitors' center and the natural history museum which are staffed by knowledgeable and energetic rangers.
