“New with room for improvements”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

I was with a group of people- maybe 12 total so it was a harder service but our server was great in trying to keep us happy. Drinks took a really long time and my meal was nothing special. However, everyone else really enjoyed their selections. My berry smash cocktail was quite good.

“Overpriced, lousy food and overall bad experience!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

Went here with party of 12, including my 92-year old mother who has resided in the area for 28 years. Looked good from the outside and the inside decor was very attractive, so we had high hopes for a memorable dining experience, especially given the high prices. While we did have a memorable experience, it was not of the good kind.
We were attended to by two servers, one who couldn't stop talking in a manic way and telling us what was on the menu (we all could read!), and the other who was obviously inexperienced and clumsy. No complimentary bread or anything to nibble on to start. It took over an hour before we were served our appetizers, which were mediocre at best: the special flatbread was supposed to feature BBQ chicken but only had faint slivers of "meat" on it; the featured mushroom soup was much too thick and rich and too large for an appetizer (they should offer cup sizes as well as bowls); and the "sassy gumbo" was not authentic New Orleans style but was of an unappetizing lumpy gravy consistency with unidentifiable pieces of meat (andouille suasage? couldn't tell) floating in it.
The main courses were for the most part even worse: a dinner salad that was the size and creativitiy of a side salad; baby back ribs that were toughd overcooked and masked with a much too spicy (beware: not advertised as such on the menu) BBQ sauce; tiny (for the hefty price) ahi tuna "tacos"; and a series of side dishes that were inedible, including baked beans that were clearly cooked more than once and thus a tasteless mush (think of Mexican refired beans but without any flavor) and coleslaw that was composed of oversized strips of cabbage that were chewy and flavorless.
While the food was very disappointing, what caused eveyone in our party to give this place a unanimous thumbs down was the service, including that of management. Aside from the hour delay before any food appeared, one of our diners, who ordered the yellowtail snapper special, was served about a half hour after everyone else. This was brought ot the waiter's (Mr. "I-can't-shut-up-as-I'm-a-friendly-guy") attention. The waiter stopped by the table to explain that because snapper was "a very flaky fish" the cook had burned it and had to re-cook another snapper. When the dish finally arrived, the snapper was properly cooked, but was accompanied by asparagus spears that were tough, fibrous and inedible. When we finally received the bill for the night -- over $300 and we had only one "cheaper" bottle of wine and no desserts (believe it or not, one of the desserts is named "Pail of Ice Cream" -- God knows what that would be or look like!) we called the manager over and mentioned our complaints. When we told him that at the least the yellowtail dish should have been comped given that it was served well after everyone else's, he agreed, asked to look at the bill, saw that the dish had been charged, and, to our astonishment, put the check back down on the table and DID NOTHING ABOUT IT! He then, in a condescending and patronizing way, thanked us for bringing these issues to his attention "as they wer always lloking to improve". To add insult to injury, and after much hesitation,he then asked if we wanted any dessert! We had already delcined dessert; why would we want any more food (especially a what we already had was bad)?
In sum: would NEVER go here again (although my family regularly visits the area) and would not recommend this place to anyone. We have had better, more satisfying meals at the Cracker Barrel across the street.
