This is a companion piece to my review of the Sleep Inn in Smithfield, N.C. The Outlets and the other "walk-to" shops make this a great place to stop for the night along I-95. There are shops right across the parking lot to the left as you face the entrance to the Sleep Inn. One is a beading supply store with a proprietor who specializes in Kumihimo. It had great selection and prices—wife was impressed. The Boathouse, one of the walk-to restaurants, offers Calabash-style seafood dinners for about $13. The Carolina Premium Outlet stores are about 1/8 mile away, but there are no sidewalks and the motel staff recommends that you drive over. These outlets offer a safe, clean, populated shopping area where you can walk off all that sitting that you did in the car driving along I-95. The Carolina Pottery Outlet is enormous, with fabulous deals on garden décor, carpets and wicker furniture. A very positive experience overall and the exercise brought us a good, sound sleep that night.
