Well, to start with we drove to this Zaxby's specifically for the "Strawberry Cheesecake" milkshake we saw in the commercial that airs every few minutes. We also wanted the birthday cake milkshake as that's talked about as well.
When we first arrived, we noticed the restaurant was just filthy. It wasn't dirty as in post-lunch crowd, no, this was obviously months of filth building up on the floors (probably get mopped with dirty water now and then), walls, garbage areas, and especially the tables and seating.
With a nearly empty restaurant of maybe 10 patrons including us, we were hard pressed to find seats that weren't either torn (badly) or greasy from many people having sat in them dirty (and especially hand prints of greasy fingers!).
When we ordered our milkshakes and some chicken, we first noticed that one of the cashiers went in the back somewhere and then brought out these two cups, imitation ice-cream-ISH product already in them, and took the tops off of them. Then, they poured what looked like red syrup from a plastic container in to one of the "vanilla-ish" shakes in a cup. They blended it up and that's it! None of our milkshakes were full either! They were easily at least an inch or an inch and a half from the top (others have since commented to us, "Yeah, and what's with them never filling up their milkshakes at nearly four dollars a pop?").
The strawberry milkshake was TERRIBLE and the very small and inconsistently sized chicken tenders were so greasy. If you get 4-5 pieces, two will be really small and dried out. You pay a lot for these!
We noticed a table tent promoting the strawberry cheesecake milkshake and it CLEARLY shows bits of strawberries throughout the shake. You'll notice the BOWL of fresh strawberries in the commercial too! I took the table tent to the counter and politely asked the girls there where the fresh strawberries were because our milkshakes just looked like red syrup and milk. They said, "Yeah, those are really misleading and people say the commercials make them think there's strawberries in-um too but there ain't any and we just have to make 'em like you got 'em." How misleading!
They didn't even taste good either!
Never again to this Zaxby's. The prices are not even close to being competitive in a town with SO MANY more less expensive options for better quality (and cleanliness) within a few blocks!
We found out they're franchises and if you visit the zaxbys.com website, it directs your "comments and suggestions" to the management of that particular unit. OBVIOUSLY they don't care! You'd think there'd be a corporate "franchisor" who would care... never again.
