I ate breakfast here in early December of 2013 when I was visiting friends in Shelby! This is a quaint little local place with tons of character! Very local feel with super friendly staff and fantastic food for breakfast! The pancakes are HUGE and very tasty. Everyone who works there in kind and friendly and looks you in the eye when they speak to you. If you are visiting Shelby, NC stop in here for breakfast. You will love the food and the service!

Stopped in here to get breakfast and wanted to stay for lunch. Yes it was that good. If you have never tried liver mush then this is a great place to start as they fry it up perfectly. They have a different variety of meats and veggies everyday so I can not wait to pass through again to try lunch or dinner. If you are looking for true down home cooking then stop here you will not be disappointed.

I liked the variety of veggies, and the crisply fried liver mush. The chicken pie was full of chicken chunks and tasty gravy. Service is quick and very friendly.

I moved to Shelby,NC about 7 years ago. Shelby Cafe is my favorite breakfast spot in town. The atmosphere is down home local. You will see alot of "regulars". The service is good and friendly. The food is great. I like that I can order breakfast anytime. If you are visiting for the first time, you have to ask to try the livermush----a local delicacy! Ask for it sliced thin and fried crisp. Goes wonderful on one of Shelby Cafe's biscuits! My personal favorite is the livermush omellete. Yum! They have your other typical breakfast items including grits. And, their home fries are really good with sauteed onions cooked in! Come on in and get you a Sundrop or Sweet tea, livermush, and good company! Hope you enjoy!

If you want to eat your vegetables but not cook them, then you need to head to Shelby Café. They serve breakfast all day and have great "real" onion rings in addition to pintos and cornbread as well as broccoli and squash casserole. It's not all that healthy, but it does taste good.
