“Great potter, carrying on the family tradition.”
Reviewed January 29, 2012

Ben Owen is a gifted potter and if you love pottery his work will take your breath away. One of the best times to go is early November as all the potters are gearing up for the big festivals and are well-stocked. Ben's work is more about art then functionality--his works are too beautiful and expensive for everyday use.

“Seagrove Potter”
Reviewed January 16, 2012

I went to a kiln opening right before Christmas. I've been before and have always had a nice time. Ben and his family are gracious hosts who take the time to tell you about the pottery and invite you to watch Ben make the pottery and he'll answer any questions. Any one interested in pottery should go.

“Beautiful contemporary pottery and”
Reviewed January 9, 2012

Outstandingly beautiful pottery based on but not limited to traditional shapes are displayed in a modern building attached to a museum of traditional Ben Owen/Jugtown pottery. This is a highlight of any trip to the wonderful Seagrove potteries--a great place to buy a gift for a significant occasion.

“An incredible potter, one of best in world”
Reviewed September 19, 2009

Grandson of Ben Owen, Master Potter, the most important and founding potter of nearby Jugtown. The inheritor of the potting traditions of the Piedmont, young Ben learned to throw and glaze at his grandfather's and father's knees and took his skills and talents to art school and then back home to Seagrove. He combines the best of traditional NC pottery and the creative talents that he has honed to perfection. He continues using the magnificent Chinese Blue glaze his grandfather developed and added the magnificent Chinese Red, as well as other lovely glazes, sometimes fired in ancient kilns. The pottery includes a mini-museum of his family's traditional pottery & a sales area. Pottery sells out fast on kiln opening days. Well worth a special trip. He & family are special people,
