Really nice waterfall. The trip down the stairs is worthwhile and not too strenuous. I really enjoyed the visit to these falls.

“Vigerous Exercise”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

Viewing the falls from the best vantage point requires climbing 137 steps in each direction. The path to the falls is only a half mile but then there are the steps. A parking and use fee is required but your Golden passport works for senior citizens. The falls is fast moving and a very long drop.

“great short hike on a paved path. good for kids”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

This is the highest waterfall in the Eastern US. It is also a 1/2 mile walk on a paved path and a 1/2 mile back. The path was no problem for young kids and a stroller. At the half mile mark, there are some stairs (.1 mile) down to a platform with a better view of the waterfall.

The park has bathrooms and several picnic tables. Plenty of parking!

The waterfall is a 9.9 mile drive off of 64. (about 20 minute drive)

“Enjoy the view”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

Easy access to falls viewing site. Hike down to valley is challenging. Do not recommend for young children or people with heart problems
