“Nice falls, wish you could get closer”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 22, 2013

We were staying at the Greystone Inn at Lake Toxaway so this was a nice short trip. Very easy to get to. A good idea to make sure you have a little cash with you as you are asked to make a $2.00 donation - there is an attendant in the parking lot but they do not have any change. Certainly agree with the reviews of this as a beautiful waterfall...it is just a very short walk to get to the overlook locations. We tend to like to do a little more hiking to get there and also enjoy falls where you can get a little closer.

“Absolutely the most amazing waterfall in Western NC - almost in SC”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 20, 2013

Thank goodness for the "USA Today" listing for the Top 10 Waterfalls in the USA. We've been coming up to Highlands, NC, for decades and had never heard of this waterfall. It is truly magnificent. Way off the beaten track, but paved roads all the way, plenty of parking, and perhaps a ten minute walk on a paved path bring you to the first viewing station. Breathtaking. A short walk down to the next station is even more rewarding. Gorgeous with these fall colors. A great view any time of year. "USA Today" says this is the highest waterfall east of the Rockies Make it a point to vist here if you are even close. Garmin knows exactly where it is...

“Beautiful view with easy hike ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2013 via mobile

We stayed at Devils Fork Camp Ground and drove over to see the falls. You can almost drive up to the falls. 1/2 mile walk to the overlook is all it takes. Come when the leaves are changing and you will get a bonus experience.

“Don't Miss This Fantastic Photo Op”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

Whitewater Falls is easy to find on Hwy 281 and provides ample paved parking, easy access to the viewing areas, and very photogenic cascading falls in the unspoiled, and un-commercialized National Forest. Sturdy, well maintained wooden steps descend to a great viewing deck, with protective sturdy railings. Terrific views and unparalleled photo ops. Picnic areas are available near the parking area. Small fee for entry, but a few bucks well spent. Now the screen saver on my computer, never tiring to look at.

“Worth the trip”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 22, 2013

Wind your way through the mountain roads and into the Nantahala National Forest.

There is ample parking and the main path up to the falls is blacktopped. The key words here are: up to. ! It is about a 1/2 mile up and 1/2 a mile down. For some this is a nice little workout.

Take your time and admire the views to the right. There are also benches along the way to just enjoy nature at it's prettiest.

You can also bring a picnic as there are tables to accommodate.

Once at the top you can walk down some stairs to the right for some excellent picture taking opts.
You almost cannot take a bad picture, as the Falls really are spectacular.

Excellent day tripping place.
