The best thing about this house is the location. Sunset views from the upper balcony were phenomenal. The house is relatively large and well-equipped for the elderly or handicapped. We had an 87-year-old staying with us, and the elevator and shower bench were very helpful.
We loved the pool table, the swimming pool, and the spa. We payed extra to have the pool heated which was excellent. The first day or two the pool was not being heated. We eventually figured out that the breaker was tripped.
The bedroom sizes were adequate, but could have been larger... especially if you have kids staying in your room. The house came with a pack and play which we used. The number of bathrooms in this house is great. Our room had a bathtub which was convenient for bathing the kids. I will say that the shower curtain liner was simply disgusting. It needed a good scrubbing or to be replaced.
We paid for early check-in which was nice.
The beds were stripped when we got there. Eventually staff showed up and made the beds with fresh sheets, but I noticed that they did not wash the comforters in between guests. You are only provided two towels, two wash clothes, and two hand towels per room so bring your own towels.
The ice machine was broken in the pool hall. We were told that it needs a new part. The refrigerator in the kitchen is way too small for the number of people the house accommodates. The dishwasher is pretty much pointless. It is ancient and ineffective. We resorted to hand-washing everything. The black coffee pot leaks so use the white one. The iron leaks rendering it useless so bring an iron if you will need it.
Housekeeping left a lot to be desired. There was tons of dirt and crumbs on the floor when we got there, and there was no broom. We bought one at Dollar General and left it for the next guests.
It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the beach. We just drove to the beach access trails which was fine. There are plenty of places to park along the road. The beaches in Salvo are wide and beautiful and not very crowded in early June.
We would probably rent this house again.
Once you’ve been there you must return.
Your mind will wander your heart will yearn.
For the unspoiled beaches that stretch on for miles.
Sand and sea oats and Carolina smiles.
A short dune walk and the sea is in reach
Not many people to crowd the beach
The sand and the sea go on and on
The waves on the shore sound just like a song
So take me back to the Hatteras shores
My heart wants to live there forever more........

We are here for 2 weeks. We've completed a little over a week.
We've rented down here for around 25 years.
It's a good house...kind of bland, few decorations.
The beds are pretty comfortable.
Housekeeping, not so great. Lots of lamps don't work & are loaded with grime.
Given the time of year, we couldn't get a linen package, which I didn't appreciate. I asked Surf or Sound to help me get one. All I got was a referral & was told they couldn't. So, haul your own sheets & towels if u come after season.
It's actually the best time of year.
Not too hot, but still very warm.
The kitchen has what you need. Loads of pots & pans.
The stove is electric & old & scarred. The dishwasher is simply ancient.
A very positive aspect is that many of the showers have benches if u have an elderly person. There is even a shower chair for the bathroom on the 3rd level. No roll-in shower, though.
The deck furniture is uncomfortable & ancient, & on the BBQ level, falling apart in one case. The BBQ level lighting is out. Don't try to grill after dark.
If you arrive at night, the doors with keypad entry aren't easy to find. At all. Don't bother going up the front steps to the front door. The wheelchair ramp has no lighting.
The carpets are stained, but that's to be expected in a rental.
I wish there were more artwork. It's really, really bland. But, what can one expect?
Overall, we've liked it. Just some issues.
